Re: .AIR output
We really want a single-file - for a whole variety of reasons. One is that the automated build process of the main software sucessfully compiles into various platforms from Linux to Windows. Hence .air is ideal for what we require.

.AIR output
The developers I'm authoring HTML Help for are porting their Windows application from Windows to Apple Mac.
My understanding is that Flare can produce .air files, but I'd appreciate if someone could either point me to some sort of Knowledge Base article on the subject, or perhaps provide some ...

Alt Tags in Word Images
Perhaps I am missing an obvious setting here, but is there any way that the Alt Text and Screen Tip in my project(s) can be included in the graphics when building a Word version.

Re: TOC Levels and Page Numbering
One of my problem, Helen, is that my output needs to be accessible to blind people with screen readers. Also, the software for which I author the Help files, also uses Word for Windows, and in particular Word's Styles, in order to convert the text to properly formatted braille. Consequently it's ...

Thank you again Lisa. That's another lesson learned and problem resolved. Just trying to tackle page numbering, but after 4-5 hours I need a break.

Re: TOC Levels and Page Numbering
Many thanks again. That's my Word TOC looking much better.
Now - what do Madcap call what Word for Windows's Paragraph Style Formatting calls, "Keep with Next"?
I have an <H4>, a <Keystroke> followed by either a screen shot or paragraph of text which I want to keep together on the same print page.

Re: TOC Levels and Page Numbering
Many thanks indeed, Dave.
I guess much of my problem is as the old addage goes; "The UK and USA are two countries separted by a common language!"
To a relative novice like me, "The mc-heading-level property is used to indicate a TOC level for a style." is hardly intuitive. Why not label that field ...

TOC Levels and Page Numbering
Having finally resolved the lack of images thanks to the forum, I'm struggling (or perhaps just too tired) to resolve two other issues.
1) I'd like to limit my TOC to just the first four levels. Where is this done?
2) How does one ensure page numbers are produced?
Any pointers would be most ...

This error appears usually because you have either not logged in and run as Administrator, or have User Account Control (UAC) turned on.
(You'll find more via Google if that doesn't work.)

Re: Search - Topics not Found
Sorry, still very much of a newbie. I was in fact using the Search option. I only meant that to be sure whatever I was searching for, I'd selected some words which were in the Index.
As luck would have it, I found Vaugn's message of April 28, 2008 with the same problem, albeit for Flare v3. There ...

Flare 6.1.0. I'm completely stuck on what may be wrong with my Search" setup. I've associated Target with Skin, but when I attempt to search for even a word in the Index, it says "Topics not found". I've studied Flare's help until I'm blue in the face, but nothing is jumping out of the page.

Topic IDs - Automatic Generation
I'm struggling to find information in Flare 5's Help regarding the creation of what I knew in RoboHelp as "Topic ID's". Is this known by some other name in Flare? "Topid IDs" are listed in the Flare's Help Index, but the Subject that comes up is "Before you Import"!?

Translation of Topic
Has anyone used a translation option, such as Google, to translate a single topic from within a .chm?

Re: Capture 5.0 image resizing issues
I wouldn't necessarly disagree, but the marketing guys want what they sell and promote to appear as up to date as possible.
I don't know about elsewhere, but in our market segment in the UK, Windows 7 has taken off, especially among Vista users.

Re: Capture 5.0 image resizing issues
Yes, I have the same problem, made worse by the fact that I have to re-capture quite literally HUNDREDS of application dialogs originally created in Windows XP, now required from Windows 7. Ironically if I use the Windows 7 Snipping Tool saving as a .jpg, and import that, it's O.K.

Absolutely nothing behind at all. Clearly the message was a red herring. However, MadCap's guy figured out the problem fairly quickly after he remoted into my system, but I'll spare the details for now.

I know! Windows 7 has not been release yet. But pending a V5 service release, this may save your sanity, should you dare be a dumb as me.

Re: Madcap Capture and Windows 7
Well I have actually now found out why Active Windows in Windows 7 get clipped. It's due to Aero being turned on.
Turn Aero OFF, and all is well. Not quite the answer I was wanting, but I have probably saved 20-30 hours of work. (Rather than copy an area of the screen)

Forgive me jumping in here, but I'm getting what appears to be a similar problem. When I try to build HTML Help, it immediately comes up with "Intrenal error: Failed to create output folder. The device is not ready. Compiler Internal Error" - And yes, I did "Clean Project".

What you say makes sense. However we're certainly NOT going to release any software until we are 100% certain that the RTM version is what is actually released to Jo Public on day 1.

Madcap Capture and Windows 7
Apologies if this has been raised before, but has anyone had an opportunity to use Madcap Capture with Windows 7 yet? Sorry if this has been asked befoe, but I've been out of circulation for a while. Does anyone know of a work around for importing FrameMaker files into Flare 4.2 other than having to purchase a full copy of FrameMaker? I'd hoped the 30 day demo would suffice, but clearly not in my case. I have ...

Project Title - Changing
Sorry, but I'm having a seriously senior moment
Having amended an HTML Project, all that remains is to rename the Title which appears in the Title Bar when you open the .chm file.
Could some kind soul put me out of my misery please, and tell me where I change this?
