GIT + File update limit

We are using Flare 2018 R2 here in the UK, to assist in authoring a project based in the USA where GIT is used.

Of late we have been having 2 serious issues:

1) Conflicts, where say 3 out of 4 can be resolved by simply rejecting changes made in the UK. But the 4th stubbornly refuses to allow any ...

Stop images appearing in TOCS only

I'm sure the answer is buried in Help somewhere, but cannot locate it.

Our Project has almost 200 Topics cover different languages. Each of these have an Initial Heading and a thumbnail image of a relevant flag or flags.

When building printed output for Word or PDF, we do NOT want the flags to ...

Re: PDF Tagging

Did you ever find out how to resolve this?

The same happens with Flare's Index. I've scoured Madcap's on line Help without finding anything helpful.

Like you, we need to be section 508 compliant, especially as our software is designed to produce braille.,

Re: Problems with Source-Control-Bound in Flare

We cannot yet be totally certain, but it does look like Flare 2017's implementation of the git side of things is somewhat suspect in our case.

Some nasty things have crawled out of the woodwork.

First, we discovered that the two systems I use here in the UK had been failing to update the main ...

Just a progress up date.

Madcap got a copy of our project (last Wednesday), and on Friday say they have the same problems.

Re: Using git with Flare for first time - best practices?

I'm no expert with git, but I am pretty much like you in terms of use being "almost" the sole user.

The primary purpose of git, even as a sole user, is to provide you with a backup. Each time you commit and push, you create a Restore Point.

I often do skip the "Pull" if I am 110% sure that no one ...

Re: Problems with Source-Control-Bound in Flare

I should have added that we have Platinum Maintenance, and a case was logged around a week ago.

We've had exchanges and suggestions, and none have worked. And yet on the same system, V12 appears to be unaffected. Madcap even have the project.

I was hoping to get some idea of others experiencing ...

Re: Flare 2017 Upgrade

Just for info, I'm using an HP Pro desktop with 8 Gb of RAM, and a 500 Gb SSD.

When I select the project you wish to open in 2017, I have a new dialog - "Retrieving source control status", which I do not see with V12.

I'll be looking at that for 25 seconds before being asked if I wish to pull the ...

Flare 2017 Upgrade

Is anyone else having performance problems with Flare 2017?

I've been using V12 which is still fine, but the new version is simply unusable. I suspect it may be a local issue as I have not seen any similar comments on this forum.

Any suggestions as to what to look for?

Re: Problems with Source-Control-Bound in Flare

I'm hopefully not seen as hi-jacking this topic, but the mention of Flare 2017, GIT and slowness made me look twice.

We've been using Flare 12 since release, always updated when advised. The only slowness problem there has been deleting files.

I installed Flare 2017 yesterday, and when I ran it ...

Re: Moving to BitBucket

Provided Flare's Bind Detection can be linked to BitBucket with the GIT option checked, you may well be in luck. Since both Flare and BitBucket have free trials, you may well be able to prove things one way or the other.

Assuming they do work together, running Flare in a GIT environment is a ...

Deleting Flare 12 filestakes an age

Am I missing a setting somewhere here?

We have Flare 12 linked to GIT. Knock on wood, all works fine, except when I want to delete a file (or files) from my local system. It can take around a minute or more.

I would have thought that deletions should go into the local database and be committed and ...

When I compile a Word 2010 document in Flare 12, any and all Word add-ins are disabled.

Is this a bug/feature, or am I missing a setting in Flare somewhere?

Re: Second copy of Flare on laptop?

I was going to post a question here, but this may well be a good place.

First, you are legally allowed to have Flare on two systems for your own use, such as a desktop at the office, and a laptop to travel with. However, you are specifically NOT allowed to have the two running on the same Domain ...

Keep lines together and Keep with Next

Flare 12, and likely it may be my lack of print/type setting language here.

In Word there are two valuable features which I'm struggling to find the equivalent of in Flare.

The first is a Style setting - "Keep Lines Together". It simply prevents any one paragraph being split over 2 pages.

The ...

Moving Multiple Topics

Apologies if this is not the correct forum to ask, but we are working through a GIT server.

However, we need to split a folder which contains over 100 files into two more appropriate folders ...

Re: Files with changes

I seem to have found a solution almost by accident. I removed the Contents topic, and it built the PDF OK - albeit with a TOC at the very beginning. That at least was a start - if a surprising one.

I then copied Contents from another working TOC and all still works.

I could not see anything ...

Thanks for the suggestion, but sadly it didn't work for me.

Guess I'll have to pass it to Madcap, but I do hate this kind of error. Like the famous Microsoft one telling you to contact your administrator - which I $%^%$ am!!!

Would it be acceptable to use the Topic's Heading (i.e. h1, h2, h3 etc.) as the Running Page Header?

Again I'm not finding the correct keywords to research if what I need is even possible?

To put it simply, I'd like to use the TOC Titles from the TOC I have created in Flare 12, as opposed to the <h#> Headings within the Topics.

For example, my TOC will contain "Product ABC", and that it what ...

Did you ever get an answer to your question?

You can adjust the TOC# settings in your .css. If it comes though OK, the screen shot is of the <p> tag expanded.
