Try insert -> bookmark... or [ctrl]+[shift]+[k] to create a bookmark at the current cursor location.
Then insert -> cross-reference... or [ctrl]+[shift]+[r] to create your cross reference. There are various options on the dialog box. You'd want place in this document if you are linking on the same ...

Re: Autonumbering (yet again)
You gotta delete the autonumbering field for those 'online' mediums.
Figure {n}
change to
Figure: XYZ
I don't understand though. What I have right now is F:Figure: {Gn+}. Deleting {Gn+} in the mc-autonumber-format deletes the autonumbering altogether. I don't see how that fixes it. Am I missing ...

Cross Referencing to a List Item
Hi,
Does anyone know how to cross-reference to a numbered item in a list. For example, we want to jump to a step number in a procedure within a topic. Inserting a bookmark and using {paranum} or {paranumonly} doesn't work. The only options seem to be cross-referencing to the bookmark name or the ...

Connecting Layouts with Mediums
Hi,
Hoping someone can clear this up for me. When I double-click a topic in the content explorer, it opens with Layout (web) Medium (print) set in the task bar. When I change the layout to Layout (web) Medium (default), save, close the topic and reopen it again, the layout changes back to Layout ...

What does the 'Index out of range' error mean?
I read about previous instances of this error, but those were in the importing to Flare section. I got this when I was trying to build my primary target. Couldn't build anything. I had an TOC prepared. I tried deleting it and adding other topics, but that didnt fix it. So I restarted Flare and that ...

Re: Autonumbering (yet again)
I have the same issue. Would like to figure out why all my cross refs to figures still say figure 1 and Table 1 when I output to MyHTML.

Re: Cannot open Project Organizer or Content Explorer
Hi,
We just had the exact same problem when installing v4. Try opening the Instant Messages window first, then the Project Organizer or Content Explorer. Should work then, at least it did for us.

Re: Global Project Linking - How do I remove links to images?
I'm not sure I understand. Using the procedure I mentioned before will create a .FLIMP file. Once that is created, you can link to the source, choose the type of files, and click Import. but in order to use global project linking you have to have created a "master" project somewhere which you would ...

Re: Global Project Linking - How do I remove links to images?
yeah, this took me a while too. I think support helped me out finally on it. it is in the help search though if you look under global links.
anyway, here's how:
In the Project Organizer, right-click your Imports folder. Select Add Flare Project Import File. Name the file. From there you can see ...

Global Project Linking - How do I remove links to images?
Hi,
I have created a template with global links to a master project. problem is that I've accidentally linked my child project to the images in my master project. How do I remove global links? Can't seem to find a way.
Thanks,

List-Of Proxy in Flare 4
Hi all,
Working with Flare 4 as we speak and really like it. So much has been improved. One thing I'm wondering if anyone knows how to do yet, is working with the List-Of proxies. I can't figure out how to control the alignment of the text (if it is at all possible). Here's an example of what I ...

Re: Possible to import a Word doc into a an exisiting project?
A lot of new Flare users get confused around this because of the way Flare's interface is set up - if you see the File > Import Project > Import MS Word Documents menu item first, it's natural to assume that's where you import Word documents... then you get confused as to why it keeps making a new ...

Re: Secondary TOC (Table of Tables and Table of Figures)
There has been a lot of talk about this. I think it is coming in the new version of Flare, but I'm not absolutely sure. I struggled with this for quite a while because it is quite important for our print output as well. There is no way to do it though within Flare. What you can do is go into the ...

Re: Cross references as hyperlinks in Word printed output
This true. But the way around that is by using a hyperlink for the topic and a cross ref for the page number.
I know that that's a messy way to work, but it works. :)
So, for example, you add a hyperlink to the topic. Then you add a space and add a crossref to that topic that has the format "on ...
