There's a third solution to the topic linking that avoids both downsides that LTinker68 discusses. It works really well for me, though perhaps it wouldn't work for every situation.

Re: Custom toolbar and custom appearance
First, the good news: a customized toolbar, no accordion items, and no frames CAN BE DONE (see image below).
Now, the bad news: I could only complete it by hacking the HTML code in the output files. Maybe that's because I'm using Flare 2.5; maybe 4.0 has more skin options?

Re: I've had to revert to Flare 3.1
I don't know if this is helpful at all, but when one of our QA guys tried opening the WebHelp files locally using Firefox, he had problems with links not working because the help was looking for the link target at /Content/Content/, where there was actually only one /Content/ directory. I don't use ...

Re: Custom toolbar and custom appearance
After some discussion, it looks like we are going to use Flare to create the user's guide after all. At least, that's the plan this week.
The look and feel: I am a contractor, which gives me less weight in these discussions. I think Flare is a great tool for documentation, for many reasons ...

Re: Custom toolbar and custom appearance
Thanks for the helpful replies. I agree that if we do anything custom that has to be manually done, we shouldn't do it. However, there is a box for entering JavaScript for the toolbar--that is probably our only choice aside from, perhaps, having the header at the top of each topic page instead. Less ...

Custom toolbar and custom appearance
My client is creating a developer support site for their products. For all new documentation, they have asked me to use a Wiki instead of Flare. We are keeping the current reference documentation in Flare format, but they would like the Flare output to look less help-like.

Re: p class with background & indentation (CSS question)
This is way late as a reply, but I was searching to see if someone else had submitted the issue about <i> and <b> versus <em> and <strong>. The WC3 accessibility requirements state that <em> and <strong> should be used for italics and bold instead of <i> and <b>. However, when using the XML editor ...

Re: Is it possible to change the project directory structure?
Thanks for the responses!
I did know about publishing to a different location.
The issue was raised because I was putting all my project files into version control (Subversion), and I had been thinking that perhaps the developers could just take the output from my project file directory. But they ...

Is it possible to change the project directory structure?
Right now, I have the following structure for my Flare Help project:
C:\...\Output\Marina Michaels\Help
Is there some way I can change the project properties to remove the \Marina Michaels\ directory? It's just me, so I don't need that directory layer.
Thanks!
regards,
Marina

How to copy and also move projects?
I've poked around in the Flare help and on the forums here but I haven't found the answer to these questions.
1. I want to make a copy of my existing Flare project (with a new name for the copy) so that both versions are viable and can be worked on.
2. I also want to move both the existing project ...

Re: After inserting picture, how to add space above & below it?
Doc Guy's answer is excellent. I whole-heartedly agree about learning CSS. I am thankful every time I edit the CSS in Flare for an excellent class I took last year in CSS.
One thing I might add is that, if you want different styles for different images, you can create a new class in your style ...

Re: Getting Started Right - A Few (hopefully simple) Questions
And on a related note, if you don't already know XHTML and CSS, it could be well worth the time invested to learn about them.

The fast response is one of the many reasons why I am happy to have chosen Flare. That, and the fact that I am absolutely loving it as a tool.
