Re: Served WebHelp has visible marker fragments

Thanks for the tips!

1. I checked the source files in the compiled output and didn't see anything. And yes, locally, these element fragments don't show.
2. I will find out what the Web server is.
3. I agree, since the files are fine locally.
4. Since this showed up the very first time I viewed it ...

Served WebHelp has visible marker fragments

My client is serving the WebHelp pages so developers can review the documentation. Unfortunately, many of the pages are displaying trailing fragments of elements, such as </ and </ht .

The trailing element fragments don't appear on every page, but when they do, they appear on those pages in both ...

Re: Issues with Flare WebHelp

I am generating WebHelp (not the Web Help Plus version). I am using Flare 3.1.0.

The developer realized that he was, in fact, using Firefox 3, so that is almost certainly the issue.

They decided to have the pages served for review anyway, so that bypasses the problem.

It sounds like the very-soon ...

Re: Tip for when Webhelp won't display in IE

Spaces in file names are always problematic on the Windows platform anyway. It is always a good practice to avoid them. They can cause a lot of problems that are hard to troubleshoot.

Re: Issues with Flare WebHelp

Thanks, Lisa.

If one sets one's browser settings to allow the local content to run, MOTW is also not needed? I have it running fine under both Firefox and IE on my local machine, and I only needed to make one change (in IE) to allow it.

Is there a similar setting in Firefox 2 that needs to be set ...

Re: Issues with Flare WebHelp

Thanks, Lisa.

I delivered it as a zipped file with all folders intact. I believe he unzipped it likewise. He's using Firefox 2; I will double-check with him to make sure he is allowing cookies.

I have read elsewhere in this forum that MOTW causes problems, so I'd rather not enable that unless I ...

Re: Issues with Flare WebHelp

Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately, he is using FF2 on Windows XP. Though I've mentally noted the FF3 issues.

Re: Website Link

Thanks for the informaiton about the demos!

Unfortunately, I tried viewing the demo on master pages, but it stops after just a few seconds. I viewed the demo on best practices for table styles and it worked fine. To whom should I report this?

Issues with Flare WebHelp

I delivered a preliminary set of WebHelp files to my client. He reported the following problems:

1. The search functionality doesn't seem to load.
2. The index doesn't seem to be set up correctly.
3. He gets errors when he pulls up favorites.

I have asked him some questions about what he is ...

Re: New to CSS--Looking to simplify the style sheet

Wyke-Smith's book is indeed an excellent one. That was a good choice!

As far as deleting styles from your style sheet, as you may have already deduced, that road is fraught with danger. CSS is one of those things that seems clear and easy on the surface, but the deeper you dive, the murkier it gets ...

Re: Is there a stylesheet for the XML editor?

Thanks! In the spirit of exploration, I reduced my resolution to 800x600, and the fonts are still tiny. So I will definitely make that request.

Re: Is there a stylesheet for the XML editor?

I have the same problem with the teensy-tiny text in the XML Editor. My style sheet settings are fine, thankyouverymuch, and the font is still tiny. I have carefully read through all the suggestions, and none of them work for my situation and probably for most others whose eyes are aging for the ...
