Thanks for the clarification. I was trying to make the favorites icon be something different, and just found out that it just isn't possible. I don't understand why, though; I'm submitting a feature request.
Edit: I realize this isn't clear. What I meant by this is that I, too, was seeking to ...

Re: How do I set the Icon for added Favorites?
Thanks to both of you. I had already changed the topic icon, but that hadn't changed the Favorites icon, and poking around the skins editor was making me think, since I found ways to change other things in the favorites panel, that the favorites icon couldn't be changed. I'll submit a feature ...

Re: How do I set the Icon for added Favorites?
Thanks for your swift reply. I realize that I didn't show enough context, or I am not understanding your answer. This is the icon on the Favorites panel. Are you saying that this icon is set in the MarkAsNew property for the TocEntry? Would that then make every topic have the star as an icon?

How do I set the Icon for added Favorites?
I would like to use a star icon for a favorite topic, but can't find where to set it. The question mark is confusing to some of our users.
I've poked around quite a bit in the skin, but although I found a number of other icon settings, I can't find this one. I just want to point Flare to the ...

Re: Change font color for Favorites accordion menu?
If I am understanding what you are trying to do, I think the property you are looking for is in your skin on the Styles tab. Look for AccordionItem > Favorites, then under Properties (in the box to the right), look for Font > Color. That changes the color of the text on the Favorites accordion item ...

Re: hyperlinks within footnotes
I have the same problem, so it isn't fixed in 8.1. In addition, the document I am converting from Word to WebHelp has a lot of subscripts, and those are stripped out of footnotes when displayed as well. I submitted a bug report, but would really like to resolve this. Is there another way to display ...

Equations are fuzzy in output
We have some equations in our WebHelp; they look great within Flare, but are quite fuzzy onscreen. Magnifying the Web page only makes it worse. It looks like Flare is converting the equations to images for the output. Is that what it is doing? If so, is there a way to make the images a higher ...

Re: Subversion - Nullable Object
I haven't gotten the nullable object error message for a few months, but since yesterday, Flare, Tortoise, and SVN just haven't been able to get their act together. I wasn't able to check in files, and I was having all manner of unpleasantness. I had just done a lot of work and I didn't want to lose ...

Re: Is it possible to output a section of the help to PDF?
i have 2 different TOCs in flare. 1 is for webhelp - includes everything. 1 is for PDF/print. i keep everything in the webhelp version all the time, and the PDF one is empty except for a title page topic, the confidentiality topic, and a toc proxy topic. when i want to make a pdf of a particular ...

Snippets and indexing
I've been implementing snippets for the two months and love them. Way cool!
But now I am about to start converting to snippets some tables that apply to more than one set of topics (currently, I have multiple TOC entries pointing to the same table topic/file). However, the index entries for each ...

Equations created directly in a topic work just fine and cause no problems in compiling.
I will test the registry edit fix later this week.

Re: Blurry images in same browser, different systems
When viewed in Firefox, it is any image (most are PNGs taken using Snagit) that has any text inside the image. Even the 600 DPI one is quite clear at pretty much all browser window sizes in IE and Chrome on my two systems (with two different monitor sizes).

Glossary item formatting
I have some questions regarding glossary items. I am using the pop-up style for glossary entries, so when someone clicks on a glossary item, a small box pops up.
1. The box sometimes has a LOT of white space in it, but when I click on the glossary item again, the box resizes to fit the text. Is ...

Re: Blurry images in same browser, different systems
Thanks! I have a "screencap" class for images that I apply to everything; it is very simple. It indents the image by 35 pixels and used to set the max width to 65%. I changed it to 95% to see if that would help the resolution. I had experimented with a set max width (with height = auto), but I ...

Blurry images in same browser, different systems
I use two different computers and three different browsers to test my WebHelp output: Windows 7 and XP; and Chrome, FireFox, and Internet Explorer. On both systems, in Chrome and IE, the output looks fine--images and text are crisp and clear.
However, in Firefox on the XP system, the text and ...

Bad snippets, no biscuit
I recently created a bunch of snippets and have used them in several places in my help project (WebHelp). Sometimes when I build and publish the help, the snippet content is there, and other times I see the "missing or bad snippet" message in the output. I haven't done anything with those snippets ...

Re: Bug or as-designed? Equations in snippets stop compiler
Thanks, Ramon. MadCap Tech Support sent me this fix last week (I reported it as a bug after posting my query here), but I haven't taken the time to test it yet. I want to finish the stage of the project I am on first so the content I am working on can go live before I mess with the registry.

Re: Bug or as-designed? Equations in snippets stop compiler
In this case, the snippet (including equation) is needed several places, and the equation is in the middle of the snippet, so even if it does work to insert the equation directly, that would't suit my needs.
Having said that, I'll test inserting an equation directly in a topic to see if I still get ...

Re: Bug or as-designed? Equations in snippets stop compiler
Yes, I have GhostScript installed; version 9.0.
The equation editor itself works fine. I only encountered difficulty when I put an equation in a snippet, then used that snippet in a topic.
Edit: Also, thanks for your response!

Bug or as-designed? Equations in snippets stop compiler
I placed an equation in a snippet, then used that snippet in a topic. When I tried to build the output, I got an error message and the build stopped. After looking at where the build stopped, I realized it was at the topic with the equation. I took a screen shot of the equation, removed the equation ...

Re: Breadcrumb path displays Content Explorer file location?
I've been implementing snippets for the past week or so and love them. Way cool! This ...

My problem went away as well; possibly because of a reboot, though I don't know.
