Re: Breadcrumb path displays Content Explorer file location?
How does this work with indexing? I thought I read something about how to prevent the indexing in the snippet from being picked up multiple times.

Re: How to Embed a YouTube Video into my Topic
Yes, tech support came through with the correct code that worked without compiler errors. Here is the code they provided:
<object width="640" height="464"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/Zau20vxhGV4?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true ...

Re: Unexpected behavior: multiple entries/same target
Thanks. I was thinking I might have to use snippets, but those tables are used in about six different places, and it just seems like a lot of extra work for something that intuitively should behave differently.

Unexpected behavior: multiple entries/same target
The help I am working on has some tables that are used by several different modules in the software. In the TOC, I've created separate entries, but with each entry linking to the same file. That works fine.
However, what I would expect to see is that, when someone clicks on the entry for a table ...

Re: Accordions vanished
I closed and opened the help file and the accordions were there. I'm relieved, but now I am wondering what happened. That was in IE8, in case that matters.
Also, I hadn't done anything to the project properties in any way--I was just adding new topics.
But thanks for your input!

Accordions vanished
I just built my project and all the accordions are gone from the navigation area. The only thing present is the content tree. I haven't made any changes to my project properties; I've only been adding new topics. Does anyone have any insight into this?

Re: Tortoise SVN 1.7.1.22161 is incompatible with Flare 7.2.0
I had the same problem with Flare 7 and Tortoise. I was able to revert to an earlier version of Tortoise and then just checked all the files out again to a new location (the old one was dead and unrecoverable). I am now on Flare 8 and had been hoping this had been fixed, but apparently not.

Re: Subversion - Nullable Object
I just started getting the same error yesterday. I'm having a few other issues with SVN, which I have been getting around by closing Flare and using Tortoise to do the check ins and clean up. That worked for most of the files that weren't checking in. But I don't know how to fix the nullable object ...

Re: <i> versus <em>; <b> versus <strong>
Thanks for the suggestion. I would rather do the manual search and replace (i> to em>, b> to strong>, which catches both the beginning and ending tags), as that results in code that meets the accessibility requirement.

<i> versus <em>; <b> versus <strong>
Four years ago, I posted a question about whether there is any way to change Flare's default use of <i> and <b> to make them the more accessible <em> and <strong>. I also submitted an enhancement request. However, I am still seeing the same default behavior, so I am raising the question again.

Re: Is it possible to print the index in WebHelp?
CRDMerge--Thank you. I had forgotten about the reports. It isn't optimal--I was looking for something that more closely resembles the index as it is displayed--but it is good enough for my purposes.

Is it possible to print the index in WebHelp?
I would like to proof my index by printing it, file names and all. Is that possible? I am not talking about generating a print copy of the index for the users; instead, I just want to be able to see which entries have multiple references that should be made into sub-entries. (We are adding new ...

Re: Automated links to subcategories?
Thanks for the clarification! We have enough topics that can benefit from this that I went ahead with the alternate master topic page route. I already had two different master pages in the project anyway, so one more was easy enough to do.

Re: Automated links to subcategories?
Thanks! I have related topics, but I don't like how they look, appearance-wise, and the organization and content is still under a lot of flux, so things are being moved around etc. etc., so I thought it would save some time and prevent errors creeping in if I automated that part.

Automated links to subcategories?
I recall seeing topics being generated that had links to topics that were subtopics to them in the TOC file in the project. I would like to have that happen for some, but not all, book-level topics in my help file. How can I get those links to be generated, and how can I get them to be generated ...

Re: Glossary terms styling - tried everything!
You said "Nothing is making the glossary terms (added with Ctrl+shift+T) come out in the webhelp as anything but hyperlinks in terms of format." Are you talking about the terms that then show up in the glossary section of the help, and that have their own file under Project > Glossaries?

Re: How to Embed a YouTube Video into my Topic
I've spent a little more time trying to debug this and I still get the error message. I can only open this file in the text editor, not in the WYSIWYG editor, and inexplicably the font used to display the text on the page (before the embedded video) is not what is defined in the style sheet.

Re: How to Embed a YouTube Video into my Topic
Thanks for your thoughts. I had had the same idea about the self-terminating elements, but making them self-terminating didn't work. I might try the </param>, though.

Re: .wmv files won't play in .chm
I had a problem with an embedded WMV not working. Tech Support's answer was to place the WMV file in the same Content directory as the file it is embedded within, and that fixed the problem. I am creating WebHelp, though, so I don't know whether this solution would work with Windows help.

I have the same question, but Flare keeps objecting to the code I am trying to use. Here is what I want to embed (using the text editor):

Re: Is it possible to output a section of the help to PDF?

The project manager wants the tutorials to be printable and also usable as presentations, so the tabber idea might not work for that ...
