Re: Found non-table cell inside table row
I've seen a similar thing on imported tables with merged cells - extra "phantom" columns were added outside the table proper. Seems like somewhere along the line the colspan and number of columns or cells got out of sync. Couldn't fix it in the XML editor so went into the code and removed the extra ...

Re: Internal error: Failed to load Master TOC - #2
This could be the final word - save the fltoc as binary in source control.
This recommended by Madcap support (and my local source control guru).
Submitted as binary - can now be shared without breaking. Can also do a diff in text mode, so I'm hoping that it will be mergeable.

Re: Internal error: Failed to load Master TOC - #2
So is this a source control problem, a Flare problem or a local system problem?
We've just had a recurrence of same. Cleaned up (thanks for the tips, TtT) by removing leading chars, hex 00 and extra groups of line breaks in TextPad.

Thanks, guys.
Did open the folder and Help > About but didn't understand Qt Assistant. Do now.
Looks like a (nice) viewer GUI for plain old HTML files. Was hoping that I could do it in Flare.

There are other threads on the Perforce issue.
Binding in Flare does not seem to be resolved. I last tested it with Flare 5.0, with the same results as reported by other posters.

Does anyone know what format this compiled help is in? Looks much better than the dated HTML Help I'm using at present.

Re: One glossary term, multiple definitions
When citing references where there are multiple entries for a given year, you suffix (a), (b), etc.
That sort of thing would work, surely?
I'd also be interested to find out if there is a convention for such duplicates.

Show Markers
In the XML editor I most frequently use the Show Markers option. This is accessed under the Show Tags button, which I almost never use.
Is there any way to get the button to default to Show Markers instead of Show Tags?
Or is there a shortcut for Show Markers?

I like it too, and use it frequently - I second the keyboard-only operation.
My only gripe is the double-click mouse selection - sometimes it is convenient to use the mouse. It should be single click the same as the Style panel.

Macro
As far as I am aware, Flare doesn't support macros, Microsoft-style.
If this is indeed the case, what would be the best way to apply a series of formatting actions, viz:
1) find the next para of a given style
2) change it to numbered list
3) set to continue sequence
4) set to a para style

Re: Popups and the Home toolbar proxy button
And another thing - why do some popups auto-size and others not?
Also - the breadcrumbs proxy seems to be omitted from the popup window (this is good).
And - in preview mode from the XML editor, neither toolbar nor breadcrumbs are in the popup window - this is the way I expected it.

A keen tester found this one just now.

I'm having trouble with this too.
I have a file that is going to be updated every release. So I need to have it available in Word format for editing by developers. I naively envisaged that I could freely import and export this topic between Word and Flare. Not the case.

I agree. I abhor those sneaky little hard page breaks and use Keep with Next or Page Break Before style or paragraph settings.

Re: Perforce and Flare
Actually you don't have to have the files checked out, but it does make life a bit easier - you avoid a few dialogs!
If a Flare file is not checked out in P4, the local file is, of course, read-only. Flare is smart enough to recognise this, and can, on request, make the file read-write before ...

Thanks Kevin. Bug submitted.
More info: just had our resident Perforce guru look at it and after various tweaks and prods he came to the conclusion that it's a Flare thing, not anything wrong with my Perforce configuration, as far as he can tell.

Another development -
Managed to get past the read-only memory stage (Flare just decided to let me in on one go) but couldn't get the Import project from Source Control wizard to recognise the project file.
