My observations, which I'll submit as a bug report when I find out how, are as follows:
Pros
Flare 5 does bind with Perforce
interface really good, good options available, e.g. check in/out, diff; all work OK
responsive
works with Analyzer, bound with Perforce
can edit files and add new ...

Re: Perforce and Flare
FWIW
I've been trying to bind to Perforce since V3.5 or so, without any luck.
Am just testing with Flare 5 and although there is some improvement I still haven't been able to make it useable.
In production I manually check files in and out, add, delete, move, etc.. I am going to continue to do it ...

Locate in TOC right-click option in XML editor
I don't know about other users, but I frequently use the "Locate in TOC" option.
As far as I can see, this is only accessible by right-clicking on the topic in the Content Explorer. So I have to rummage through the Content Explorer tree to find the topic that is already open in the XML editor ...

Graphics .props
Another what the?
I have (currently) identical projects in two development branches. In one project each graphics file has an accompanying file with the suffix ".props". The other project doesn't.
Can someone explain please? These are really untidy.

On a similar theme, but sort of turning it on its head, I've not been able to get a toggler to work inside a snippet.

Re: Seeing & applying span styles
Thanks for the comments, but I think you missed my point.
I too don't use <b>, which I put in as a simple illustration - in fact I use <span> - it could have been written
<p> <any old tag> Some between the </any old tag > tags </p>

One-click on the shift-ctrl-H style picker please. Gets me every time - can't see the point of double-click on a shortcut action.

AHA!
Yes, this is serious. It has recurred for us; I am the only one who can edit the TOC and generate compiled help.
Trent - are you submitting a bug report?

Re: Perforce Integration
Perforce and Flare already have the required interface (MSSCCI?) to communicate. No need to install plugins.
However there have been problems with binding Perforce and Flare in previous versions of both.
Up-to-date experiences would be much appreciated.

Re: Snippets - how to specifiy CSS/styles
Thanks for that - clears things up a lot, and gives me options to try out.
In fact new topics created from my template already have the correct stylesheet automatically assigned.
I do have two stylesheets, and since there is no overlap at all, I prefer to keep them separate.
Cheers, Andrew

No, it wasn't ever edited outside Flare.
The TOC was generated on my PC, checked into source control from where it was loaded onto my colleague's PC. The TOC (and consequently the HTMLHelp build) never worked on her PC. Her version got checked into source control and thence onto my PC. Source ...

Re: Snippets - how to specifiy CSS/styles
If you have a master stylesheet you can't override the stylesheet for individual topics.
Stylesheet not being applied
Stylesheet not available
The path to the stylesheet could of course be an absolute path. In the <head> area it's coded as a relative path. All I'm suggesting is that you check ...

Re: Snippets - how to specifiy CSS/styles
As I understand it, a master stylesheet is OK if you only have one css, but no good if you have more. I have two, so couldn't apply a master stylesheet to the project.

What do you see when you Toggle show blocks?
Perhaps you have a nested tag that you can unbind.

It's true that snippets are formatted according to the host topic's stylesheet. This is a really really good feature.
However, Analyzer doesn't know this. Analyzer topic: Help? Analyzer finding "broken" links, etc., in Snippets

Paul - can you not do a manual delete and add in SVN?
You can in Perforce - that's now I have to manage renaming or moving files. (See my previous post).

Re: Seeing & applying span styles
That doesn't work either.
So
Selecting <p+> All between the tags </p> exposes paragraph styles
Selecting <p+> Some between the tags</p> exposes character styles
Selecting backwards is a furphy.
Is very annoying if you have to do it frequently and I'd call it a bug.

Do you have a row with an extra "dead" cell outside the table?
I sometimes had this message when importing tables from Robohelp, where Flare didn't recognise where I'd merged cells in RH.
Had to edit the HTML to fix it.

Re: Flare Analyzer not recognising project
Follow-up -
Just tried the read-only/read-write thing, and, sure enough, if you set the Analyzer folder to read-only, you cannot open the project in the internal Analyzer pane.
Set it back to read-write and it works fine.
You do have to close and re-open Flare for the settings to take effect ...
