As I understand it, a master stylesheet is OK if you only have one css, but no good if you have more. I have two, so couldn't apply a master stylesheet to the project.
Presumably you could still apply a master stylesheet, but you'd have to override it for individual topics.

Re: Snippets - how to specifiy CSS/styles
opened the snipped with the Internal Text Editor and added:
<link href="../Stylesheets/MyCSS.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
to the file after the <head> line.
Thanks, but that had no effect.

Snippets - how to specifiy CSS/styles
I have formatted text in a topic that I want to convert to a snippet. If I do Format > Create Snippet, it duly creates the snippet in the Resources folder and, if I accept the default, replaces the source content with the new snippet.
However, when I want to edit the snippet, the choice of styles ...

Convert help's TOC to text or html?
I expect the answer to this is either a straight "no", or something embarrassingly obvious, but here goes:
I'm pretty sure I can't convert the TOC of a compiled chm into text (so it can be used elsewhere, such as in a spreadsheet listing topics and tasks), but inside Flare, can I convert or export ...

Re: Topic files should not appear in output
Very true - even if a topic is not on the TOC and is set as not searchable, a user may still find it if there are hyperlinks to it.
Nevertheless, my concern about disabling search being a relatively invisible property (and thus easily forgotten) still stands - I think (I didn't explain myself very ...

Re: Topic files should not appear in output
By default, HTML Help (chm) and WebHelp outputs include all topics, unless they're conditionalized out.
If you want a topic to be in the output but not be searchable -- say, if it's only used as a popup topic -- then you can set the topic to not be searchable. That's done in the Topic Properties ...

Re: Sending multiple topics for review in one email?
Cecily,
I have zipped many .htm files and sent them for review. Reviewers can annotate .htm files in X-Edit Review and send them back. This works ok, but they can't see snippets or images.
That's an interesting idea, thanks. But then of course you're doing much of it outside Flare/X-Edit, so you ...

Isn't that the same way in Word? You are in edit mode by default, but have to do something extra to annotate and once done leave that mode.

Thanks, but can you dumb that down a bit?
I'm not knowingly using table styles (slapped wrist). I just do Table > Insert Table and then specify the number of columns and rows and the AutoFit behaviour.

Thanks for those ideas. I couldn't see any difference when opening the problem topic and another in the internal text editor, I'm not using master pages and the stylesheet did contain the styles and worked for all the other topics using it.

I used X-Edit for the first time today - or rather, one of my reviewers did.

Re: Indent a table in a topic
What version of Flare are you using? If you're using v4, then there's an option to specify a left margin in the Table Properties screen, but you need to set the table position to "left". (I think that's where the left margin can be set -- I don't have Flare open at the moment.)

I've just sent a few topics for review using X-Edit for the first time.

Thanks, I've done that (as per Knowlegebase article I was pointed to before). Of course as it's on the build server this time, I have to wait for it to build, uninstall the product, reinstall the latest interim build and then view the help. Not difficult, but annoyingly time consuming.

I recently upgraded to 4.1 (second time) and although the Search worked fine when I compiled locally, I got this problem on help compiled on the build server, which isn't something I can test as quickly or easily.

Global Project Linking is the phrase you want to read up on in Flare's help. (Three consecutive prepositions in that sentence - and I think it still makes sense!)
