Re: v4.1.18 Background:System.AccessViolationException
It gets worse... I've uninstalled v4.1, then used my email with hyperlink and licence key etc for v4, but it goes to a page that only has the option to install 4.1.

Returning to the topic, laying aside whether to use paper or electronic copies, what is your preferred approach to the tricky muddle of multiple reviewers? Do you prefer reviewers to see the comments of previous reviewers (giving you a harder job of sorting it all our ...

Sounds good - but at the risk of asking a silly question, how do I roll back to 4.0?

Re: v4.1.18 Background:System.AccessViolationException
Actually, it's not all OK.
Although I don't get those error messages, in one of my projects, when I open some topics, some of the text is invisible! It shows up in print preview (I don't want to compile), but I can't edit what I can't see. If I change the style class, I can see it, but as soon as ...

Yes I have (now), and it seems OK, so that was an easy fix - but needlessly alarming.

v4.1.18 Background:System.AccessViolationException
I started Flare v4 this morning and accepted the suggestion to upgrade to the latest version, 4.1.18.
It seemed OK till I opened a project and in a Messages panel at the bottom (that I'd never seen before), I got the following:

Re: Reviewing Topics without using Send For Review
I'd rather share out a Word file and use track changes. With disconnected reviews you get five change requests from three people for the same sentence and then it will be your task to defend the ultimate version.
Even with two reviewers, it can turn into a tricky muddle. I don't think there is an ...

Re: Saving topics as Word docs
Do you want to save each Flare topic as a separate Word document, or do you want the whole Flare project to compile into a single Word document?
If the latter, follow Lisa's advice.
If the former... I'm not sure, though you may find this topic helpful: http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic ...

Re: Lesser Than or Equal symbol not in special characters?
That's like the non-breaking hyphens.
It's a big hole in functionality that should really be a bug and should be fixed. It's pretty unusable if you normally edit within Flare and need the symbol frequently.

Re: Non-Breaking Hyphens???
Try opening the topic in an external editor (like NotePad, or the like) and entering the code in where you want the non-breaking hyphen.
Thanks.

Re: Tips for using global project linking for mega projects
I haven't used it with a mega project, but have used it to share a glossary and stylesheet.
I had thought of sharing the odd topic page, but the problem is that they may well include hyperlinks. So then you have four options, none of which are ideal:

Re: Conditions versus importing via Global Project Linking
It isn't necessarily either or; I was just comparing their relative merits and was thinking aloud and ahead as to what circumstances I would use which methods in future projects. That said, I want to avoid needless complexity, especially as a project I start may end up being worked on by another ...

Conditions versus importing via Global Project Linking
What are people's views on the relative merits of these ways of sharing content?
Is it better to have one project with conditional flags and multiple targets or separate projects that are linked to share/import certain topics? (I find snippets work well with both scenarios, so didn't include them ...

Re: Global Project Linking - can't UNlink when imports too many
I think I have this sussed: it pays to be specific in the Include Files field of the import file (even though you also specify individual files in the Import dialog).
I had selected Include Files: All Files because there wasn't a Glossary option in the drop down list. Then I used the (Re)Import ...

Re: Flare loses exact settings for windows
I am using dual monitors in portrait mode, perhaps this is the issue?
I don't know what the problem is , but I don't think it's dual monitors per se.

Thanks Lisa. I looked at topics in the internal text editor, but wasn't clear what I was looking for. There is more than one stylesheet in the project, so even a new topic containing only the default text contained a reference to one:

Re: Docking panes behaviour seems to have changed
It doesn't remember which actual folders I had open (but then I use Flare to work on several different projects), but whichever project I open, the panes are the same size and in the position I left them, with Project and Content on the left and usually with Content on the top.

I retract my recommendation of Global Project Linking - stick to snippets and condition tags!
I thought I'd got GPL sussed, but it's all gone wrong again (http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... =13&t=7379).

Re: Global Project Linking - can't UNlink when imports too many
I'm getting really annoyed with this now.
It was all OK. I'd compiled one of the child projects numerous times and it only imported the single file from the parent that I wanted it to.

Thanks Lisa and Ramon. That's great: deleted in TFS and compiled fine locally, with no stray charcters in output. (Fingers crossed that the build server is OK too.)

At first I couldn't see one, but then found it buried several levels down (below Temporary).
at one point the output was generated back into the project Content folder, which is very very bad.

I can't advise about size limits, though yours don't sound high, but in more general terms, I use a mixture of snippets, conditions and imported topics.
You obviously know something about the first two and as for the third, you can import topics from one project to another, using Global Project ...

No, they're not in the output, thankfully.
Switching them off as you suggest is an improvement, for which thanks. However, a coloured flag icon remains and I'd ideally like to remove them and replace them with "proper" links for tidiness, but it's now a slightly lower priority.
