I can use AltGr + E for the occasional é, but Word keyboard shortcuts such as CTRL+^+a don't work, although I can copy and paste â etc from Word to Flare.
However, that is only viable for very occasional use.

Re: Compile fails in hhc.exe [3220] when topic in TOC
Thanks Lisa. TFS is unchanged and I've tried rebuilding the TOC from scratch, adding one topic at a time, compiling after each, but it failed when I'd created less than a quarter of it, i.e. in a different place, with different topics.
I've reverted to the old TOC and will refrain from adding ...

Re: Compile fails in hhc.exe [3220] when topic in TOC
If I create a new, virtually blank topic and insert it in the TOC where the problem topic used to be, it won't compile, but if I put it (or the original problem topic) elsewhere on the TOC, it's OK.
So I deleted that whole section of TOC, recreated it and added topics one by one.

Re: Compile fails in hhc.exe [3220] when topic in TOC
Hi Lisa.
I've added it to the TOC the same way as I have all the other topics (by dragging and dropping from the Content Explorer) and the topic's file name and first heading are the same as each other, just upper and lower case letters.
The whole project is tied to TFS source control, so I don't ...

Do you think so? I read your topic and a couple of others, but they seemed different enough to justify a separate topic.
I suppose my next step is recreate the topic bit by bit, adding it to the TOC at each stage.

One of my projects stopped compiling (others OK) after I created a new topic, though there is nothing obviously untoward in that topic.

Re: Graphics not displaying in Word output
I had this problem and couldn't solve it immediately, partly because the Knowledge Base article omits a crucial step that Andrew's post mentions (although his post didn't cater for my ignorance of where to find the Links dialog or stupidity in trying to edit the server version):

Re: h1.chapter - not incrementing
Given that that is the style used by one of the supplied templates, it seems a little odd that it doesn't default to starting a new chapter, but it's easy now that I know how to fix it.
Thanks very much, Lisa.

Re: h1.chapter - not incrementing
Hi Lisa. The style is exactly as it was from the Sample Book project template supplied with Flare:
mc-auto-number-class = (not set)
mc-auto-number-format = CH:Chapter {chapnum}:
mc-auto-number-offset = 0
mc-auto-number-position = inside-head

I have a Flare v6 project with Word and html output that I created from the Sample Book template.

Re: Can't delete [Index] in Word header or display my text
Hi Lisa. Yes, the StyleRef is to an H1, but it's not a right page, it's a page type of Title (the page type of Right has a reference to H1 that I can see in Flare).
I'm not sure why:
it's picking up the H1 for the index rather than for Chapter 1 (or even Chapter 2)
I can't delete it - or even see ...

Re: Two header / footer "objects", one left-aligned, one right?
I meant to say that I used variables in the master pages in FrameMaker, where I created the original docs. Now that I'm in Flare, you're right, I am working with page layouts.
That makes sense. Hopefully someone else can answer your question (near the bottom of the previous page) about variables ...

Re: Two header / footer "objects", one left-aligned, one right?
I'm not sure of the best option about variables, but you mention master pages, even though you're posting in the section for printed targets. As I understand it, master pages only work for online targets; for printed targets you need to use page layouts.

Can't delete [Index] in Word header or display my text

Re: Two header / footer "objects", one left-aligned, one right?
Thanks Lisa. That solved the main problem, though it's rather fiddly. I'd already changed the page size from Letter (in inches) to A4 (in centimetres), but the margins were still defaulted to 1inch. Anyway, by converting them to cm and then working out the width of the body area, I went to Table ...

Re: Two header / footer "objects", one left-aligned, one right?
I'm trying to do the same thing in Flare v6: a header of left-aligned text in the left and a right-aligned logo in the right, using a table of two columns and one row.
That works in some respects, but in the Word output, the header area is not as wide as the body area, even though they are the same ...

I don't know if there is a rule, and I don't think I'm consistent.

Note that they don't necessarily appear non-breaking in Flare's editor mind, it seems a bit ropey, but they do work in the preview and output.
