Thanks, that document is helpful, and I'd completely missed it.
However, I'd still like to be able to apply specific styles with a keystroke command. For example, in Word and Frame I use a lof CTRL+ALT commands for this purpose. CTRL+ALT+B applys BodyText, CTRL+ALT+2 applies Heading2, and so on ...

Keystroke shortcuts for applying styles
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE can we have user definable keystroke commands for applying styles? I have this in Word, and in Frame with Rick Quatro's ShortcutKeys addin. It is driving me up the wall having to apply styles from a list. It slows me down by an order of magnitude. And my wrist is getting sore ...

Style list displayed without actual fonts used
Is it possible to have Flare display the list of styles without showing the styles as they actually appear. All I want is a nice compact list of styles - I don't need to have my Heading1 styles displayed in 24 point blue Arial in the list. Just the name would be fine, thank you.

How to get Preface headings in header but not TOC
I am trying to get my PDF target set up so that the headings used in the front matter appear in the header of the page but not in the TOC. Basically, we use a PrefaceHaading style for sections in the front matter, including the "Contents" heading above the TOC. I would like to include the first ...

Maintaining aspect ratio of a graphic
I need to place our company logo in a page footer. I want to have it sized to be exactly .5" high. In Word this is simple - I just set the height in the Format Picture dialog box and Word sets the height and adjusts the width to maintain the proper aspect ratio.

Re: New book On Flare!
I live in Canada and dealing with ordering through Lulu with cross-border shipping is a hassle. Is it possible to buy the book as a PDF or other e-book format?
Thanks

Can't get outside border in table in PDF
I am trying to get a different format for my tables in the online (WebHelp) and PDF targets. In my WebHelp, I have a table style (Format_A), set up with a header row with a light blue background and rows with alternating white and light grey backgrounds. This seems to be working OK (although it ...

Open PDF toolbar button
In my current WebWorks Help projects, I have a toolbar button that the user can click to open a PDF version of the help. The developers like this because they don't have to add a separate Help menu item for the PDF.
I'd like to set this up in my WebHelp projects. How do I do it?

I've fiddled with the monitor setttings and I now have the alternate shading showing up on the 2nd monitor. I need to tweak it a bit more to get the two monitors as close as I can, but fiddling with the gamma settings in the Nvidia control panel seems to do the trick.

Re: Style editor not saving changes?
Before you do, check the colour depth of the output to the second monitor in the Windows display settings. If it's 16 bits (64 thousand colours or thereabouts) the difference between the shades may not be noticable. You want it to be 24 bits (16.7 million colours) or 32 bits (I don't remember how ...

Re: Style editor not saving changes?

Re: Style editor not saving changes?
The only other reason, then, that your styles aren't "sticking" is that there are inline styles defined in the topics that are overriding your stylesheet. Open one of the topics in the Internal Text Editor and see if there are inline styles in some of the tags.

I have been trying to build an initial style sheet from a project that I created by importing a FrameMaker book. I've run into enough problems with the process that it's made me question my sanity, or at least my decision to move to Flare.

If you have version 4.x or higher, then you can copy the table and when you click paste you can specify what you want done with the content. I don't have it running at the moment, so I can't remember if it has an option that's close to the convert to text feature in Word. You might lose the spacing ...

I believe this happens when your TOC entry is linked to a bookmark instead of a topic.
