I found Ghostscript on their site, downloaded it and installed it. The .eps images and .pdf generation is fine now.
Also had an issue with the itcc.dll not being registered when building a .chm. The error message tells how to register the .dll but the procedure is not the same for all versions of ...

Re: Moving to new computer
I've made the move and installed new fonts. However, when I try to build a PDF target I get the message that Ghostscript needs to be installed. I don't remember installing this before but I haven't done anything but upgrades since my original version 5. The version I installed was the last update ...

Thanks for the tip on the font family. I would never have thought of that. Looks like tomorrow is change over day so I'll post any other issues.

Moving to new computer
I'm going to move Flare 9.1 to a new computer in the next few days. Is it as simple as moving my project folders, deactivating my serial number on the old computer and activating the serial number on the new computer?

Re: Shrunken Image in Footer
I found that an .eps image will not import to Flare at its created size. That may be your image problem. I had submitted this to support and they acknowledged that it is a bug.

Re: How do I get High Quality Images for PDF output
The following hints are from my experience that predates working in Flare. It goes back to Frame and WebWorks Publisher.
Save screen shots in .tif or .png formats. I found that .jpg images just have too many compression artifacts and smear really bad even before sizing.

Re: Inserted .eps too small in PDF
Thanks for the response.
Got word back that this is a bug. I didn't report about the transparent background, just this size of the placed .eps files.

Inserted .eps too small in PDF
I have carefully sized my .eps illustrations in Illustrator to be 8.0 inches wide. When they are inserted into a topic they appear to be smaller on screen. After generating the .pdf and then printing the top, I find that the image is about 70% of the correct size. I know I can go in and change the ...

Change colors in the text editor?
Is it possible to change the color or background of the text that "Find and Replace" locates in the text editor? The light gray highlighted text is madding difficult to locate on a screen full of XML. I'm thinking there must be a file somewhere that defines the color but I haven't looked long or ...

Sorry about the wrong forum and thanks for the reply. I am using HTML5.
I had placed the names of four automobiles in four topics in my test project. Then I entered four entries as directional synonyms (car-desoto, car-nash, car=rambler, car=hupmobile). Only one topic would show up in the search. I ...

Synonyms not working for me
I'm trying to add synonyms and can't seem to make them find anything in HTML5.
I have a synonum file in the synonym folder with just a few simple entries.
Is there something to enable in a skin or target that I am over looking?

That is probably what I will have to do. My goal was to match the style of some of our other docs that had the QR down in the footer area.

QR codes and other images on page layouts
I have been trying to add a QR code to the first page of a page layout. The page already has our logo placed in a decoration frame. If I insert the QR code next to the existing image, neither shows in the Page Layout Editor or in the finished output. I've also tried two decoration frames but that ...

I did eventually find errors in my cross references and I believe the following to be true

Missing cross-referenced file error in Flare 8
When I build a .pdf in Flare 8 I get an error that I am missing a cross-referenced file. However, there is no file listed in the filed that follows. When I open the offending topic I cannot find any issues with cross-references. I've run a report looking for broken links and bookmarks but nothing is ...

Re: Looking for ebook reader to test epub
I installed Calibre and it opens the epub file. Microsoft Reader didn't open it at all.
I'll take RamonS's advice and test on the actual device when I get serious about epub.
Thanks for the responses.

Re: Glossary entry printed from Glossary Proxy missing topics
Thanks, I did submit this as a bug only because the linked definitions are picked up for a .chm but not the .pdf.
I guess I could do some sort of manually built printed glossary with some combination of snippets and topics but, workarounds are just a pain.

Glossary entry printed from Glossary Proxy missing topics
I've used linked topics for a glossary definitions because images are involved. When I created a glossary topic with a glossary proxy, only the definitions entered in the glossary are rendered for the .pdf from the proxy. The terms with linked topics are missing.
Bug or pilot error?
Thanks.

Re: Defining a "style-after" style
I was in the process of adding the and to the my .css. Did the issue of the parent style being added when the there is no get addressed by Madcap? I'm using 7.2 and it still just repeates the parent. Hoping for some magic that is not obvious.
