Re: Alphabet Glossary/Multiple Glossary

Thank you Dave. My boss wants an Alphabet Glossary and I'm just not sure how else to accomplish this aside from not using the proxy and placing all the terms in an .htm file. That seems like a stupid way to achieve it, but I am not sure of another option at this point.

Alphabet Glossary/Multiple Glossary

Hello all,
I am needing a way to achieve the alphabet glossary, since this is not a current Flare feature. I have already submitted a feature enhancement.

With that stated, is there a way to create multiple glossaries (A, B, C, ect through the entire alphabet) and then insert each one as a proxy ...

Re: Question about Include/Exclude Files in Project Import Edito

I am not sure I understand what you are trying to do. Did you link all of the "kids" to the "parent" files so that whenever the stylesheets, master pages, ect are updated, the "kids" all get updated on a new build?

Sorry, please explain further. Thanks.

Re: Importing a PDF file and then displaying it

Welcome to the forums!

In order to embed a PDF file, all you have to do is add the PDF file inside the project through your explorer window. Add it to the list of .htm files you already have created. Once inside the project, all you have to do is select text, press hyperlink, and link to a "file in ...

Re: Batch processing in Flare 6

The first thing I did after installing Flare 6 was create batch targets in all of my projects as I was so excited about the new feature, still unable to get it to work in command line, as stated before, all I did was change -target to -batch and changed the target file names so they were the batch ...

Re: Resizing image to pixel dimensions

On the same note as resizing, I right click an image and go to File Properties > Format with the intention of set size for Print. When I resize, it shows correctly in the preview, but when I leave the properties window, the image does not resize. Then I go back to File Properties and it is back to ...

Re: Oddball instructions question

I do not do a ton with imaging so it's not a big deal, I just wanted to label pictures. The only issue now is what you had stated in a earlier post regarding the gray background. I put in a feature request.

Re: Does this forum need FAQs?

It would be nice to see a more organized FAQ section. I tend to have too broad of a search result and it's hard to narrow down an answer. Or, maybe have a more detailed sub-category within each category. The forum is become more difficult to navigate in my opinion.

Have you tried using the Madcap-glossary Proxy and Madcap-glossary term within the stylesheet?

I did figure out how to make my image work for me like the example above. I just change the callouts from bubbles to lines and it works great.

Re: centering

I was more hoping to have the zoom effect feature face that direction instead of always going to the right side. I must come up with some crazy ideas for my documentation, although they don't seem crazy when I think them up. :)

I'll have to try the callouts idea as you suggest.

Thanks!

centering

When an image is captured, it is always justified to the left most side of Capture. Is there any way to center the image? I would like to put text on the left side, but am not having luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

I'm trying to create a picture similar to this within Flare. I'm wondering if it can be created within Flare, or if I need to create it in Photo shop and then import as a picture.

Oddball instructions question

Hello all,
I am wondering if anyone has successfully used Madcap to create examples like the one below. Does anyone use Madcap to recreate this, or is the usual idea just to create it within photoshop and past it in?
I hope this question makes sense. I am trying to create a quick reference PDF ...

Re: Batch processing in Flare 6

I had a command line that would build all of my chapters, but now with V6, it does not seem to work well at all. The only change I made was change the -target "name" to -batch "name" (and change the program to open v6 instead of v5
Any ideas?

Are you trying to resize the picture within Capture or Flare?

I typically will resize in Flare by using the XML editor for the topic.

I don't know about Andrew, but I have my .chm files in Source Control in a different location than the source files because I have to put them in the folder where the company software is kept within source control.

Flare 5 still creates a temporary folder in the output folder after a build. I never had them in any of the Flare versions until I set up my projects in Team Foundation Server. Now, they build every time I do a build.

Have you tried opening up .chm output file you are linking to, right click in the topic, click properties, then copy the Address mk:@MSITStore:... into an External Hyperlink (instead of cross reference option)?
