The default settings of Top & Left 5%, and Width & Height 90% are actually ignored. In addition, the Preview Full Size button is non-intuitive.

Re: Really, really, really, really small browser window
Further testing has nullified any "previous session's view" theory. This happens:
* In IE8 and FF4.01
* Always on one writer's machine
* Sometimes on another writer's machine
* Not yet on this writer's machine
The skin settings are the same for several projects (5px from top & left, 90% height ...

Re: Really, really, really, really small browser window
Ramon & Lisa, I'll ask everyone to pay a bit more attention, to see if we can isolate the environment. It might well be the secondary window thing (maybe one of those stupid popups from a web site).

Really, really, really, really small browser window
[Flare 7, Win XP, IE 8]
Once in awhile, launching a project's WebHelp output produces a really, really, really, really small browser window (about 2-3 inches square).

Rename it to an alphabetically superior name, so that it appears above the other two? FirstVariables, AAAVariables, etc.? The other folders are still there, but who cares, since yours is at the top?

Flare 7 template file: bad preview and added H1
In Flare 7, I created a template file that contains two snippets and two paragraphs.
When I create a new topic using that template:
1. The Preview is woefully inaccurate.
2. Flare adds the topic filename as an H1 heading to the top of the new topic (above the first snippet).

Re: Find and replace XHTML tags in multiple topics?
The beauty of FAR is that it ignores multiple spaces and line breaks, and that you can keep content as variables, such as:
<b> Some text </b> to <span class="ThisStyle"> Some text </span>

I would like to apply some DITA rules, that is, divide the topics in three areas/folders: a. Reference (only Dialog box descriptions: lookup tables for help in selecting values, filling fields, nd so on, upon hitting F1), b. Procedural (Workflows, detailed steps to accomplish a task, and so on ...

If you're going with "the user," you'd better go with "the users," to stay out of that his/her gender morass ("their" is so much safer, don't you think?).

[UPDATE]
The conversion from RoboHelp to Flare changed all instances of http-equiv to http_equiv (dash to underscore). They're investigating my bug report further (Case 26234).

Have you considered the <button>MyButton</button> treatment?
See the w3schools web site http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_button.asp for more info.

No Numbered List icon in Format Text toolbar
Why is there no Numbered list icon in the Format Text toolbar? That is, I'd prefer having that icon instead of having to select the dropdown from the Bullet List icon to get to the numbered format(s).
Is this "as designed"?

The <li> tag before the follow-on paras (which by the way, is not closed further down) should be removed:
<li>
<p>follow-on paragraph, text aligned with text from bullet BUT NO BULLET</p>
<p>Another paragraph without a bullet (but where's the spacing between paragraphs gone?)</p>

I'd stick with the default toolbar icons.

REFRESH meta tag for redirect page not working
In our merged WebHelp (up till now in that other HAT), we've been adding redirect pages (using the REFRESH meta tag) in one child project TOC section as a way to link to a page in another child project TOC section. However, this isn't working in Flare (it's actually not even working when linking to ...

Re: complex selectors: ol ul and ul ol styles
You'll probably need to extend the css styling to the list item, such as:
ol li {list-style: upper-roman;}
ol ol li {list-style: upper-alpha;}
ol ol ol li {list-style: decimal;}
ol ol ol ol li {list-style: lower-alpha;}

You must have neglected to actually select a condition tag from the right-hand side of the Condition Tags window (right click the selected text and choose Conditions). :( If you had, your code should look like:

Upon further review, Flare appears to be saving me from myself (admirable but annoying).

Only 20 of 57 styles shown!
In the Style Class dropdown (right click a P block) of the XML Editor, how do I get beyond this message, to see all of them? Is my only option to lose screen real estate by opening the entire Style Window?

Re: Best way to present wide tables in PDF?
You might take a hard look at the table, to see if there's any way of eliminating/coordinating some columns, usually labeled as Comments, Prerequisites, etc., which often have text in only a few rows. These bits of content can often be either added on a separate line in column 1 or 2, or added as ...

I believe those bars are the Separator toolbar element, rather than borders. Check out the Selected column in the WebHelp Toolbar tab for the skin you're using.
