Here's what we use (a separate .js file with a footer setup in our master page). Note that the mailSubject can be changed to indicate product version numbers, also very helpful.

Re: header background
Is that the HTML5 output? If so, IE 8 isn't too cool with it. I had an issue with the Search filter color not being recognized, but Flare support suggested checking with a different browser: Firefox displayed the proper color just fine.

Re: Blank page displayed in internet explorer
Instead of looking to your customers for a solution, you might try investigating inward: are your developers calling the help properly, and should they be the ones doing the fix? I'd tend to think that therein lies your solution. Of course, I'm not an engineer; I only play one in user forums. :wink ...

I'd like them to avoid adding the same three- to four-paragraph snippets in every related topic (the second topic looks familiar, and by the third topic, I think it's Groundhog Day!).

Richard, is there a specific reason for locating that Output folder inside the Content folder? You probably can't get Flare to ignore it if it's in there. Are you also generating output elsewhere?

I'd test it in a few single topics before adding it to a master page, though.

Getting a p style to work inside a Table Style table
You'd think that was a given, right? Wrong. And using "td > p.ToDo" wasn't working.
Because Flare uses ".Body~" td styling for the table style rows, you have to take those classes into consideration. For example, to add specific table cell styling for the p.ToDo class, you would add BodyA through ...

I got the same response from Madcap support yesterday, and I responded with: What about the other 30K instances of that schema, which Madcap inserted throughout the 42 topics during the conversion from RoboHelp? Can I safely remove them all? They're everywhere (table, li, ims src, a href, h1, etc ...

Ordered lists in Flare 8 are working just fine in IE8. Are you using the List Actions options properly?
For an unnumbered paragraph, place the cursor at the end of the numbered list item, select List Actions > Make Paragraph Item(s), and press Enter.

Just another undocumented feature...
I've usually experienced it when I've performed multiple Copy/Paste functions (thereby straining Flare's memory, I think). I just Restart my system and that usually clears it up.
Good luck,
Leon

Re: How Do I Create Complex Selectors to Control Lists
Hint: If you have procedurals or options listed inside tables, as we do, you might want to reduce the amount of indent (to save real estate). Simply use the table cell selector (td) with the list selector (ol/ul); for example, a bullet list outside a table and inside a table:
ul
{
list-style ...

Use the "Try it yourself" interactive areas at http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_list.asp to test whatever you think you'd like to see. It's a great learning tool that allows for instant feedback. Maybe you could start with some of the samples provided by Dave Lee in the link in his earlier post ...

No, Lisa, I specifically enforced focus in the topic page for my testing. And yes, the Flare implementation of HTML5 is seriously not ready for prime time, even worse for merged projects.

No, you're not; Madcap is.
Add your own bug report to the (I believe) many others; it's even worse in a merged project: an abstract appears only once every dozen or so results, sometimes as large as 8-10 lines worth. They're aware of it, they're working on it, you'll get email when they fix it ...

Your styling should be for the list, not for separate paragraphs. In the style sheet, for example:
Try that (our ol padding/margin, on the other hand, is 18px).
