Re: Changing ShortDate format
Changing the date format works fine - we do it all the time. It works in the help and pdf output targets, but it doesn't work for Word 2007. There is no work around that I can find, you have to open the doc in Word and edit the date.

Re: How to exclude unused files from Webhelp?
Dave is, of course, correct. But I still prefer to use one exclude and one include for each target. The advantages, as I see it, are 1) the "Exclude all" condition also excludes any redundant stuff created by the importer that I haven't tidied out of the project yet and 2) it's more intuitive, so ...

Re: Child WebHelp contains ALL parent topics
Flare includes all your topics and resources in the build unless you specifically exclude them. This doesn't matter in printed output because you end up with what's in the toc and nothing else. But in a help system, you can end up with a lot of extra stuff, including old graphics and topics that you ...

Need to transfer Flare to a different computer
I have two copies of Flare installed, one on my laptop and the other on a desktop. The laptop is broken beyond repair so I've ordered a new one. The desktop is on loan and has to be returned to qa when the laptop arrives.

Re: Does Flare run on Windows 7?
I found this quote in another thread about Flare and Windows 7.
When I reinstalled Flare, I forgot to turn off intellisense. I switched it off and it now runs fine again.Hi, Steve,
Thanks for your help! I turned off IntelliSense and I think that did the trick. Fingers crossed!

Re: Flare v6.1 and PDF Output
I also have experienced this problem. It seems to depend on a number of things: if you are using Windows xp, it usually means that you have the pdf document open. However on Vista and Windows 7, it may indicate that you have any pdf document open or that the adobe updater is running in the intray ...

Re: Does Flare run on Windows 7?
I've just reinstalled Flare on a Windows 7 machine and find that it regularly hangs for a few seconds when I'm editing. It didn't do this on my old (XP) system. Has anyone else had this problem?

Re: Word 2007 -- Summarizing target output problems?
I have two relatively small problems with my Word 7 output.
The first is using an unusual date format (for example April 2010). I set the format in Windows, and Flare picks it up and transfers it to all output targets except Word. There is nothing I can do but change the date format in the Word ...

Positioning of lists
I've got a project with a print target and web help target, both of which contain most of the topics in the project, and both of which are delivered to a web server. The project has a further three html help targets, which supply help for three guis on the machine where the software is installed.

Re: Automating release date Word output
Thanks. I have the same problem with the long date format.
I also agree that you should be able to select the format rather than relying on Windows. I'll submit a feature request too.

Re: Automating release date Word output
Has anyone actually managed this with a Word 2007 target? I can get the short date to display the month and year in webhelp and pdf, but not in Word.

Re: Flare's logic in case of multiple conditions on same content
One useful technique is to group topics together in a folder and apply an exclude condition at folder level and an include condition at topic level.
It's a handy way of building a specific target that has a relatively small number of topics from the project.

Re: Imported topics missing from default TOC
Thanks - the topics should have been in the TOC, but they had been deleted from the version that I imported.
I'll remember to check that in future.

Imported topics missing from default TOC
I recently imported a Word document into Flare, specifying new topics for level 1, 2 and 3 headings. Flare successfully imported all the sections into the project, but omitted one set of level 3 headings from the TOC. Does anyone know how the TOC is generated?

Re: MadCap references in page source
Yes, my technical director is objecting to having "MadCap" references visible to (nosy) end users of the product. He's happy to acknowledge MadCap in the About statement, but doesn't want refs to another company in the "code".

MadCap references in page source
When I view the page source of the html pages, they have various references to MadCap, in particular one to xmlns:MadCap="http://www.madcapsoftware.com/Schemas/MadCap.xsd"
Is there a way to remove them or change them to something unrelated to MadCap?
