ChapAutoNum is the style. You should find it listed with the spans.

Re: Placing customer a customer feedback line on every page?
Thank you. But my initial confusion (original reason for the post) was that I did not have a master page, I didn't even have a folder called MasterPages under ..\Resources until I specifically created one.
Interesting. I did not realize it would generate help without an existing master page. It ...

Re: Placing customer a customer feedback line on every page?
You do this by editing the master page itself. In the Content Explorer, go to \Resources\MasterPages and open the master page. Since your target is set to default I'm assuming there's just the one master page in there, probably named Standard?

Open the Link Viewer pane, and then open one of the topics in that output.
In the Linked From section, you'll see what TOC files that topic is included in.
Then, open the TOC file. In the Linked From section, you'll see what targets use that TOC.

Re: Bloated .chm; can't exclude topics/images
Do you have an alias file associated with the target? I'm not 100% sure but I think if the file is referenced in the alias file then that is enough to include it in the output.

I think when most people talk about "print output" they generally mean creating PDF or Word documents (regardless of whether those documents are actually printed by an end user or simply read online).

Re: Excluding Topics from Printed TOC?
Presumably your title page and TOC page are both using h1 as a header -- that means they'll be in the TOC just like all the other h1s. If you don't want them there, you need to use a different style for those headers. You can create something like h1.FrontMatter or p.Title or whatever and use that ...

I produce PDF as well as web output, but we don't formally print the PDFs (they're for electronic consumption or casual printing). Also my company is not particular about the fonts.

1) Add a space between every chapter for better legibility.
I believe you can do this by adding margin-top space to p.TOC1.
2) Remove the bold attribute from the chapter number.
I'm not sure if you can adjust just the number...the number is displaying in bold because p.TOC1 is bold. Might be ...

Fix for overlapping background colors?
Below is a screencap of the top right corner of a help topic. The "related topics" box is floating in the upper-right hand corner. That's great. But if the topic also uses a p.note style in the first couple of paragraphs, the p.note background extends underneath the related topics box. Is there a ...

Re: Snippets? Well, that's annoying
Although people use them for various things, generally snippets are for reusable text. Say you have a particular warning paragraph that is identical in 10 topics. You define it as a snippet and then you insert that snippet into the 10 topics. Then if you ever need to update the warning text, you do ...

Re: Removing styling with complex selectors
Thanks. When I inspected it I discovered it was totally ignoring the td p.note style like it didn't even exist. So I went back and stared at the stylesheet in consternation, and noticed that p.Note was capitalized and td p.note was not. When I capitalized td p.Note it worked. Grrr case-sensitivity.

Removing styling with complex selectors
Issue with HTML5 output (v9). I have a style p.note with a border and a background color. When I use this style in a table, I want to remove the border and the background color. So I set up a compound selector of td p.note, and set background: transparent and border:none.

Re: Output File
In my understanding you need to add that tag to the Default*.htm files in the output. Adding the tag to the master page does not do this. You have to manually do it after creating the output.

Re: Importing styles from another stylesheet locks up program
I reported this issue to MadCap once, a long time ago, and support told me to make sure that the Hide Properties check box is enabled in the Import Styles dialog. This checkbox is in the bottom half of the dialog, above the list of styles for import.
Since doing that, the Import Styles dialog is ...

Change your primary target to the PDF target, then the styles from that stylesheet will be available.

Re: reordering chapters / topics
The Content Explorer is only about how your files are stored in the project. It has no impact on the output. The order of the output is determined by the TOC for the target.

Re: Flare 9 buggy as all get out. You too?
I'm still on Flare 8, and I see similar issues with the Print Layout view (problems selecting text, repeating text, disappearing text). Switching to Web Layout view resolves the issues as techwriter31 noted. I just keep it in Web Layout view except for the rare times when I specifically want to see ...

Re: How do I suppress page numbering on cover, TOC?
I'm assuming what is happening is that your cover title and your Table of Contents title use the h1 style. (And the blanks are some blank h1s on the cover page? Not sure.) Anyhoo, everything using an h1 is going to be in your TOC by default. If you want it not in your TOC, you need to use a ...

FWIW I see the same behavior in other PDFs that I have access to (ones that I have not generated in Flare). Maybe the effect is more pronounced in your documents due to the large files? Sorry to not be much help, I haven't thought too much about it because the PDFs I generate are mostly just for ...
