As brief background, I have custom styling applied to the MiniToc and I want the same styling applied to my RelatedTopics links.
Specifically, I want the title text of "In this section" (for the MiniTOC) and the title text of "See Also" (for RelatedTopics) to be the same size/boldness/etc.

Related Topic Link Icon - how to get rid of it?
There's a little icon that displays next to the Related Topics text (in my case, set to "See Also").
I don't want this icon to display.
I have modified MadCap | Related Topics so that mc-image is set to none (previously there was a file noted here). The icon that was displaying there is now gone ...

Re: Including PDFs in web -- a better way?
I got around that error by using external resources. I published the PDF to a designated external resources folder, then I copied the file into my project and enabled the option to keep the file in sync. So going forward, I publish then sync. Requires two clicks instead of one but at least I don't ...

Re: Optimizing Search in HTML outputs
The webinar inspired me to re-evaluate using h2s to improve search results, but I quickly ran into the same issue that lise mentions in the previous post.
If I use longer topics with h2 subheadings, then I want to either:

Re: Retain Global Layouts with Static Header Info
Note that you don't have to create individual variable files for each doc that you produce. Instead you can have one variable, say ManualTitle, and then you set the value of that variable per target.

Re: Text exceeding frame in pdf ouput
FWIW, I believe the TOC assignment method is the "standard" method. Usually you set the page layout at a break point (like the start of a chapter) and then all subsequent topics in the TOC inherit that page layout until you set another break point.
I did not even know you could set the page layout ...

Re: Add a favorite external editor to Flare 8 choices?
I just moved to Windows 8 and I'm having this issue. I have administrator rights and I have changed the association for the file type - no luck.
Is this still the latest on this issue (a bug has been logged but not yet fixed), or is anyone in the know with any updates? I am using Flare 11.

Grrr case sensitivity...the style is div.sideContent and I had put it in my master page as SideContent. Works after case correction.

Absolute positioning
Has anyone tried out the absolute positioning feature in v11? Re: Flare 11 not respecting mc-language=none?
I just downloaded v11 and discovered the Spelling tab in the Options. There is a section for "Ignored Styles" on this tab. I'm thinking maybe now we are supposed to list the styles we want ignored in here, instead of using that mc-language setting? I haven't tried it yet, but it just caught my eye ...

Re: Crazy question - "Build Primary" vs "Publish Primary"
Build Primary builds it.
Publish Primary will build it if it detects changes, and will also copy the result out to a designated "destination" as defined in the Destinations folder and as selected in the target.

I use this for the first page of chapters.

In your TOC, select Break Type as Chapter Break and then select Page Type as First.

Not totally clear on why you are getting a copy of the snippet, so perhaps you can provide more detail on what you are doing that causes the copy?
If the snippet is being used within the same project, then certainly copies aren't made of it every time you use it. So are you importing it via ...

Re: Document Title Variable?
Create a variable like "DocTitle". Give it whatever value you want, it doesn't really matter because you will be overriding it in each target. But you might want to call it something like "CHANGE ME" so that if you forget to override it in the target, it will stand out when you view the output.

I haven't done this in a long time, but if I remember correctly I had to create the expanding text by selecting something Flare considered valid, then manually edit the HTML to put my bullets in there. Worked fine once I did that.

Re: Drop-Down Text
My advice would be to find a selection where Flare will allow you to add the drop-down, and then manually copy in the rest of contents after the drop-down has been created. Sometimes Flare doesn't like a selection for no logical reason that I can see. Although I suppose it's possible that you ...

Re: Indenting main paragraphs, not paragraphs in list
I think it's easier to outdent your header than to indent everything else. For example you can set the margin-left of the header to -.25inches (or whatever you want it to be). Then don't indent everything else. (Of course I realize this advice would be more useful before you already changed the ...

This is a shot in the dark, but did you recently change the settings on your computer so that the font size is larger than normal? I seem to recall that can cause issues with the PDF output.

Re: Snippet secrets - what conditions required to create one?
Actually the second trick doesn't seem to work anymore. I could have sworn it used to, but maybe that's how I worked around some other snippet limitation.
But you can definitely create a new blank snippet file and put a table in there. I have plenty of tables in snippets.
