Re: How to get Flare to omit the <span> around a variable
LDEE, I like this solution!
I'm going to think about whether I can live with the drawbacks—there are some that doc_guy didn't mention: organization and translation. Will the content authors who succeed me be confused by the use of variables and snippets masquerading as variables ? It shouldn't ...

Show CSS formatting for data-* attributes in Flare & Contrib
We use data- attributes in a Flare HTML5 project. (This is another way of saying we use custom attributes that are formatted in the HTML5-standard manner. If you're unsure what this means, here's a summary of custom attributes and CSS by Mozilla Developer Network, half-way down the page.)

Thanks. That helped.
Hint for MadCap: if a user activated manually, Local Help should be toggled on—because chances are there's an overenthusasm on the part of I.T.'s security systems, or a lack of Internet connectivity.

Re: How to get Flare to omit the <span> around a variable
Thanks Dave,
The developers are asking me to provide text without <span> tags around it. They aren't asking me to provide the <input> element or <button> element—in fact it's the opposite. they only want text from me, nothing that they wuold call "code".

All Help is broken in Flare 12
Be forewarned.
My current client has very high Internet security in place, so the following are not functioning in Flare 12:
- Help (online website scripts are blocked).
- PDF guides (search hangs).
There's no way to disable the security.

Hi Dave,

How to get Flare to omit the <span> around a variable
My Devs are complaining about the span tags that Flare puts around variable text while generating HTML5 output for us. For context only—don't be scared of this—the Flare output is ingested by another build process so that the HTML5 output ends up in a CMS and from there in the UI of a web ...

Re: XHTML Book only generates some topics, not all
Thanks both for your advice. I added the topics in the ToC. After generating the XHTML Book, and all the content was in a file named GeneratedTOC.htm, not in separate files. Is that normal?

XHTML Book only generates some topics, not all
I have a project (target output type = HTML) that publishes several topics, each in an html file.
Today I added a target whose output type is XHTML Book, and only one of my topics gets published. I'd like to see all my topics.
Question : What am I doing wrong?

Local path for images hosted in the cloud
I have a Flare project that provides text for a web application that contains text, graphics, and video.
The images and video are hosted in the cloud; the team has selected Amazon's S3 service.

Column text that flows? (Not using table cells.)
What's the recommended way to display text in columns that flow? So as the height and width change, the text might reflow to re-balance the columns.
I'm not looking for a solution that uses tables.
Thanks.

Interspersing multiple Flare topics into a web page

Need text colour (color) on dropDownHead?
I seem to be unable to change the text colour of the dropDownHead. My CSS is below. As you can see, I've set the colour to #4488dd ( this link-like blue ) throughout. Why is the text black? —Thanks.

I want to commit files to Git, but the file list is empty
I have bound Flare to Git.

Build or publish a Flare output file to my Git Bash folder?
After I build, I must copy an HTML file to a different folder, so that I can use Git Bash to push that file into the build of our application.
