Re: Variable for YEAR only
Thanks. This worked. I did not realise we have to enter the date formatin the Definition column. Your illustration made the difference: it's yyyy.

Add to the list of ''Open with'' programs?
I'd like to right-click and Open with using an application that's not listed.
• From within Flare, open an .htm file by using Notepad++.

Re: Continuously ingesting text with its formatting
I think you misunderstood. I have edited my question to make it clearer.
This isn't a one-time task. I'm looking to push content changes into the application quickly—Agile, continuous improvement to the app.

Continuously ingesting text with its formatting
Here's what I want to do:
Manage content (text) in Flare.
Continually publish the text and basic formatting (such as bold text, a hyperlink, or a bulleted list) to a standard output .
An application automatically ingests that formatted text, where the text becomes part of that application's ...

Re: Setting the language globally
Thanks for attempting to answer. It didn't work.
• The German spelling setting won't apply and won't persist.
Here's a short video (no sound) of what I'm doing: http://screencast.com/t/NutudZ0wGWRg
This video shows:
1. The text in German, all with red-wavy underline.

Re: How to display topics in the WYSIWYG editor
Thanks. I hadn't spotted the two tabs. Note to Flare's GUI designers: It's not intuitive to me that XML would display content without markup.

How to display topics in the WYSIWYG editor
I was editing the mark-up of a topic, and now all my topics will only display in the text editor.
I was adding custom attributes to paragraphs, and cutting and pasting chunks of markup in and out of Notepad.
How do I get topics to display in the WYSIWYG editor ?

Re: Flare & Native DITA Support
So still no DITA editing, even though the Help in version 5 was hinting that it's coming:
In this version, you cannot use Flare to edit DITA content natively.

Exporting variables
Hi,
Does Lingo export variables? What formats does it produce? Is there a choice of mark-up format?
Thanks.

Getting text strings from Flare into a JSON file
Hi,
I have a client, in the financial services sector, working on a web-application. The web-application's GUI (user interface) is full of text, as you can imagine. They want to translate to 4 languages. The text strings are in a JSON file, one for each language.

Flare stops responding after using LeftArrow at start of doc
It took me a few occurrences to realise what the problem is, but MadCap Flare stops responding (it hangs) when I use the LEFT ARROW key at the start of a document.

Re: Apply a style to a Variable
So there are two suggestions in this thread, so far.
1. The workaround that has everything appearing the way it should is unbelievably  labour intensive. I actually found a way to do it all in one window, but the amount of clicking is still awkward. (How hard should it be to click a location ...
