Good Morning Msquared,
I don't believe I created a TOC proxy anywhere. :) I just have the TOC, but no proxy in any document. That's a nice idea, though and one I'll try.
I solved my own problem and this is how: I have two different page layouts: one for front matter and one for chapter pages. I ...

Page order - ToC placement in page order
Creating PDF output. New at page layouts and such. I'm having a hard time getting my Copyright page to print before the ToC and I'm not sure what controls the page order. I have the Title page and the Copyright Page in a folder called Print Only and have included them in the ToC, but I'm not sure ...

links to pop-ups... can't remove the underline
Hi there folks,
I've been working on this one for a while, so I figured it was time to reach out and ask a question. I find the names of the style items somewhat hard to decipher. I bet I'm not alone.
I have edited the color of hyperlinks and removed underlines from them. Only problem is that ...

Never played with that feature.
I just checked my files for signs of anything associated with that feature and the File Tag tab is blank all around.

I did that, but it didn't fix the problem. Just don't know where the message originates. Strange.

Re: Background:The specified table does not exist. [ FileTag ]
Hi there and thanks for your ideas.
I tried it with just the TOC open and I got the same message. I closed the TOC and tried it again and got the same message.
Any other suggestions?

Background:The specified table does not exist. [ FileTag ]
I get this message (Background:The specified table does not exist. [ FileTag ]) whenever I open one of my projects. Not sure what it means or how to make it go away. It doesn't seem to prevent the help from compiling, but it is concerning. At least a little.

Re: link to a PDF from a PDF
When I create the link, I use the Insert Hyperlink dialog. I choose External File and then type the name of the file, since it's stored in the same directory as the page I am working on. But after I close this dialog and go back in, Flare has changed it to File in Project. When I hover the mouse ...

link to a PDF from a PDF
I've written a book in Flare and want to include hyperlinks to PDFs that are external to the book. When I set them up using the External Link option, I get a build error that tells me it can't find my file(s), but it generates the PDF anyway. When I open the PDF and click on one of the hyperlinks ...

Re: "Root element is missing." when importing a PageLayout
You know what? I opened the layout files in Edit Plus and they are completely blank! When I detach them from the email, even though I can see while they are attached to the email that they are not 0 KB files, when they detach they have the correct file names, but they are 0 KB files. Nothing in them ...

I'll check with my colleague to see what he has sent me. I'll also see what version he is using. I'm pretty sure we both have 6.

Re: "Root element is missing." when importing a PageLayout
I use the New From Existing Option as well. I get it when I click Add after locating the file.
I tried just copying it to the correct directory within my project, but I get the same error when I try to open the layout to look at it.
I'll have to ask him. I don't know the answers to your questions ...

I choose Project > Add Page Layout, then choose a layout created in a workmate's project, not created as part of my project.

"Root element is missing." when importing a PageLayout
I can't figure out why I'm getting an error when I try to import a page layout file into my project. It says "Root element is missing." Any ideas?

Re: Toolbar buttons have disappeared!
I think what I've got is a bit of mess between 4.2 and 5.0. I've been using .js files interchangeably between the two and it isn't working for me.

Re: Toolbar buttons have disappeared!
After replacing the MadCapToc.js file with one I know is good, the toolbar buttons didn't reappear. So I deleted the Skin Support folder in my project, thinking it would be regenerated when I built the project and sure enough it was. But now, my TOC doesn't display in the built project.

Re: Toolbar buttons have disappeared!
I tried that. I used the former file, but I know I have several copies floating around my hard drive, so I'd probably better give it a thorough check. At least you've seen it before!
Thanks and I'll get back to you today about my progress.

Toolbar buttons have disappeared!
I was playing with the skin for my help project and I have somehow made the toolbar buttons disappear. Any suggestions on how to get them back?
I had been editing colors in the MadCapToc.js file. I had also been editing colors in the Skin editor.
Yikes!

I know I *used* to know how to do this, but right now, I can't remember!
How do I change the color of the book icon and the icon pages?
Thanks in advance as I advance in age.
