Thank you for this post! Saved my day!
I kept getting an error message that said, "Name cannot begin with the '<' character, hexadecimal value 0x3C, Line 6, position 2."
The supposed problem file was a .png file--one that I had not edited in quite some time, and I'm a lone writer, so I'm not sure ...

Flare 2018, Subversion, and Moving Servers
Hi all,
I use Flare 2018 and my company uses Tortoise SVN and Subversion for source control. A couple of months ago, my new manager came to me and told me that I had to put my help files into Subversion "right now." Since I had an external backup of my help project, I dove in without reading the ...

Best Practices for Flare, Subversion, and Copying a Project
Hi all,
Backstory: I work at a software company, I am a lone writer, I use Flare 2018, and just recently started using Subversion for source control.
I have always "cut" one help build from the last. When I got here we were on 4, from 4 I cut 5, from 5 I cut 6, and so on. That was before we used ...

Thank you both for your assistance.
Philip--I totally hear you on the H1s each being their own topics. That's normally how I do it. But the VP says that for this release, I am to put them all in the same topic. And so I shall.

ChoccieMuffin,
I think changing the columns looks like the simplest and fastest way to go about this. Doesn't truly "solve" the problem, but now all the tables come out looking the same and ultimately that's what I'm after.

I did try your suggestions, but have to leave early [now] and my post will take a bit (want to use pictures, etc.), so will post another reply tomorrow to 'splain what I found. Just didn't want you to think I was being rude and dropping off.

How to Add Border Around H1 (Heading 1) for Word Output
Hi all,
I'm trying to recreate a Word template in my CSS in Flare, for Word output.
In my original Word template, my Heading 1 (h1) style is set up with a blue border around the font, which is white.

Thanks doc_guy, and ToddPh!
I had the user test ToddPh's suggestion, and sure enough, when she turned off the compatibility mode, my online help TOC worked perfectly.
PHEW! (I'm sending mental love notes to Microsoft. *L*)

Confirmed with the user that the TOC works as expected with Heading 1 links. It's with the Heading 2 links that she starts seeing that problem.

TOC Panel Issue with IE 10
Sorry to be blunt but we're all short on time, so here's an ordered list of what one of my readers reported to me:
1. The user opens the help, then clicks the Show navigation icon.
2. The TOC displays in the left panel as expected (with the full list of TOC links).
3. The user clicks a TOC link and ...

Hi all. Am wondering if the Statistics report worked in previous versions of Flare and doesn't work in V8, because I just ran the report (it took 15 minutes) and it says, "(No data)" which just can't be true.

Thanks for posting this. I was trying to import Word documents into Flare, from files I had copied from my SharePoint workspace. Once I re-saved them so that they weren't read-only, the problem went away! PHEW!

How to Set List Style to "Keep with Next" in Word Output
Hi all,
I'm still somewhat new to CSS rules, and am trying to figure out how to translate the MS Word "keep with next" paragraph setting to make my list style ("ol") in my CSS stay with the image beneath each number in the ordered list.
