Re: Pin the footer to the bottom of the page?
Yes, there is. I've done it but I'm blowed if I can work out which bits in my stylesheet did the job! Here are some bits and pieces that may or may not be involved in it, so feel free to have a play with adding and removing these bits and see what happens. (And if you get it to work, please post ...

Re: Exclude a chapter from autonumbering
Getting back to the question, if I have a selector (style) where most of them are a certain way but there are a couple of exceptions, I make the most common one the default. So in this case my h1 would have a chapter number, but then I'd make h1.NoChapNum that doesn't have a chapter number and only ...

Re: Import overwriting stylesheet?
We only have one main stylesheet which is stored in a separate Flare project that we import into all our normal projects. If you did that, then you'd get your stylesheet back by importing your Globals project again. Just a suggestion.

Re: Need to get rid of thin black line around pop-up graphic
I have a sneaky suspicion that it's to do with accessibility (the same way you get a thicker line around a dropdown arrow in the side menu). I can't remember what I did to play with it, but I don't think it was in the stylesheet. Could it be a skin setting?

Perhaps add a feature request? They probably wouldn't have to do anything in the code but could add that information to their help, so shouldn't be too hard for them to do.

Sorry, it was so long ago, and I haven't been working in Central as much as I would have liked, so I simply can't remember! I suggest you contact MadCap Tech Support and see what they say, as I think I got things fixed by talking to them. Good luck.

Not completely sure I've understood what you're saying, but here's what I think you're doing and how you can fix it.

Re: Flare Menu Proxy - Excluding Headings
I suggest you add a generic style, for example ".NotInTOC" with the attribute "mc-heading-level: 0;" and apply that generic style to the headings in the Physical Light and Table of Contents topics.

Where is the DEFAULT value for mc-toc-depth stored?
I've got some projects where the topics have a mini-TOC inserted, and I'm wondering where the DEFAULT value for how many levels the TOC displays is stored, because nowhere in my stylesheet is there a style that includes a definition for mc-toc-depth. I know I could edit my stylesheet to include "mc ...

Re: Multiple skins (HTML5 Tripane): change CSS?
Don't know about the first one, but you can definitely add a toolbar with assorted buttons, such as Remove highlight, Next topic, etc, in SideNav. I think you do it in the target by using a Topic toolbar, but I'm not looking at Flare right now so the location of it could be wrong. Wait until someone ...

Re: Avoid page break after headings
If you can share the code for that section (the heading followed by the image) we might be able to help.
A few questions for you:
1. Is the image just too big (long) to fit on the page with the heading as well? If you temporarily make the image smaller, does the topic work as you want it to?

Re: Bookmark issues - blank " " and no periods
For the x-ref problem, make sure the full stop is OUTSIDE the x-ref tags, as whatever is inside the tags is regenerated when you generate the output.
So it should look like this:
For details see <MadCap:xref href="Options_Formula_Options.html">Formula Options</MadCap:xref> .

Re: Graphics to show full size if target uses thumbnails
Not quite what I was after, as I know I can open the graphic to look at it but that's an extra step I would have preferred not to have to do every time. I'll have to just live with it, I suppose.

What exactly is the problem here, is it that you only want to build once? Would it help if you add a batch target? Look here in the Flare help:

I noticed this a couple of years ago and there wasn't a solution then, so unless the MadCap techies in the cupboard under the stairs have been fed plenty of biscuits under the cupboard door, I think there's still no solution. Perhaps put in a feature request and see what happens to it?

As for a good book, you could do a lot worse than look at what our very own Scott de Loach has written. I'm sure there's a link somewhere on the forums to his latest work?

Graphics to show full size if target uses thumbnails
Afternoon, Flare hive mind.

Rather than doing that kind of change in Flare, I'd do it in something like FAR, operating only on *.htm, *.html and *.flsnp files. You can either load your projects one at a time or load all 25 projects, as you feel.

Re: HTML5 sidenav output, IE indented by miles
Solution for now (because we're close to release) is to not set max-width in the skin. It's not ideal, but next release I'm definitely going to put that one right back in there! Problem is, the default browser on a lot of the machines our users are likely to be using (and that some of our testers ...

Re: HTML5 sidenav output, IE indented by miles
Bug raised with Tech Support, and the first response is "we've recently moved away from IE so we recommend using Edge instead, if possible", but as a lot of my end users haven't, this isn't really what I need to hear. I'll keep you updated if anything useful comes out of the discussion and I'll keep ...

We don't do building and publishing like that but I think I may need to investigate further so we can use that bit of functionality.

How do you deal with updating ONLY new content in HTML5?
A question for my future, but would be good to know when planning.

Something that might help you is to inspect the source in your browser, as that can show what's going on and give you some hints in how to resolve it.
