Re: Table Cell Content Style problem
Another possible workaround could be to get a table that is formatted as you want it to be, and then create a snippet from it. Every time you want to use that table, insert the snippet, convert the snippet to text and use as normal.

I can recommend TechSmith's Snagit for screenshots and Camtasia for videos. They're also very active in their training and webinars (which is something I love from MadCap too).

Re: Manipulating TOC Proxy
You get a lot more control in Flare by using a manually created TOC, as you can add a topic to contain the TOC proxy and then put the TOC topic wherever you like (rather than it being plonked right at the front, as happens with an automatic TOC). I know it's a bit of work, but it will be worth doing ...

Re: Import large Word document into Flare
Working with a large Word document means you are almost certainly going to have to have several attempts at importing until you get to something you like, but I agree with all the advice, you really should do as much tidying up in Word before importing as you can manage, because it'll make your life ...

Re: p-style nested in list elements required
The first version is less cluttered and contains less code. The second version is when you need to have additional content in a list item, such as a continuation paragraph, a table - more or less anything. So there is a place for both, as long as you set any specific styling for a <p> inside a <li ...

Re: scrambled text in Central published project
We've had a similar (but different) problem when our build machine, not Central, changed to a virtual machine rather than a physical one. Every time it shut down and restarted, it lost the licence that had been used. The solution suggested to us was to get hold of the Enterprise licence for Flare ...

I never could tell left from right, my original message was a load of nonsense! :D
In IE there's a really wide space on the left, so side menu and topic content are all shoved right, and the right-hand side of the content is off the screen with no scroll bar so there's nothing you can do to see it ...

Re: Responsive Skins: maximum content width?
Also, in the skin take a look at the Global section, expand Size and make sure you don't have a setting in there that you're not happy with. That's what I've used on my Sidenav output, but it may depend on which flavour of HTML5 your output is.

HTML5 sidenav output, IE indented by miles
Hi all
I've got a Sidenav HTML5 output that looks great in Chrome and Edge, but looks absolutely rubbish in IE, looking for some help to fix it. (I know we specify that we don't support IE, but enough end users are likely to be using it that if it's not too much of a pain to fix, I'd like to.)

Re: How do I set the column widths in a table?
Do you have a tablestyle applied to the table? You'll see in your text editor, which I see you're using. If so, then that may be where the problem is, as I think the table styles take precedence. I could be wrong on that, but try applying a tablestyle and see what happens.

Re: Fonts in HTML5 output not correct on other machines
Thanks Dave.
My mistake was even more silly - I had added @font-face, but when I generated the output I used the wrong stylesheet! So I'm going to stand in the corner with a pointy hat with a D on it for a while, and then regenerate my help with the correct stylesheet and see what happens. D'oh!!!

Re: Can I expand the books in TOC without clicking on each o
Yes, you can, if you're talking about in the Flare interface rather than in your output. In the TOC Editor, click the Expand All icon, which looks like a pile of papers with a + on it, second along from the "View: Tree" button. Or you could click "View: Tree" which shows all the entries in a table ...

Fonts in HTML5 output not correct on other machines
I have created some HTML5 outputs for our engineers to include in the installation (unfortunately for this first version we're not hosting the help) and I notice on some screenshots from them that the fonts I've used in the output aren't being used. Or it's possible that because we're not hosting ...

Re: "Ghost" TOC Topics
Another thing that can cause problems is having "empty" paragraphs in your document. It's possible that your source Word doc had:
Heading 1[Return]
[Return]
Body text [Return]
If that second line was also formatted as Heading 1 in Word, then that would explain the empty entries in your TOC. So the ...

Re: Flare makes awkward changes in styles.css
Is it possible that when you changed the font you changed it in the DEFAULT medium, and the rest of it is defined in the PRINT medium? It is really easy to make changes in the DEFAULT medium when you actually want the change in a different medium. If this is the case, then Flare has done exactly as ...

One of the first things I'd check is if you have your Windows display settings at anything other than 100%, as this can cause problems.

Re: Is the relationships proxy the problem?
I can't answer your question directly, but I can suggest how you can identify exactly what is styling that section. In your generated output, right-click and then click "View source" or "Inspect element" (I can't remember which is the best one), and you can see what the code is behind the generated ...

Hi ChoccieMuffin. I'm coming to this problem a few years after this was raised having just started with Flare. Thanks, Psider, that's exactly what I needed.
Hopefully they'll see in their analytics that "close review files" in the Central help didn't find anything, and they'll add a note to go looking in the Flare help. (Silly me, I should have thought of looking there too...)

How do I close a review topic?

Re: Style Woes on Export to DOCX
The main thing is, you can't export to Word, do things in Word and then re-import back into Flare - the way Word deals with XML is just too foreign to be able to do this.
