Could you insert the full unicode value for the Chinese brackets in your XML code? That might "force" it to behave itself, and would be a quick and easy thing to test.

I have got myself confused and I could really do with your help.

To add to that problem, I have discovered (I think) that if you have a table with a bottom margin and padding (I don't know the difference so I apply them both!) then that padding/margin gets applied on the next page before the heading. That's a BIG pain in the rear end!
