Update:
During my support call it was confirmed that applying small caps to a variable DOESN'T WORK!
(I was wrong about the UI variable, must've done something wrong because it does actually work, I tried it again.)
That's a big pain in the rear end because I'd spent the time going through my ...

"Space before" at the top of a page
I have several styles, headings in particular, that have "space before" attributes, to keep things looking pretty. However, I notice that if that heading appears at the top of a page, the space before means that instead of it appearing actually at the top, the space is included, so it is shoved down ...

Re: Applying small caps span class to a variable doesn't work
I actually don't know how to apply the span.Keys class to a variable because the interface doesn't display them!
If you highlight the variable (or any text) you should see span tags in your Style picker.
Not in my version! When I highlight the variable, the Style picker ONLY shows styles ...

Re: Applying small caps span class to a variable doesn't work
I included span.Keys to show you what I had used before I put variables in, as that span worked fine just on text I'd typed in.
Thing is, for ease, when you have inserted a variable and then highlighted the variable, the Styles window on the right only shows the styles that are available for ...

Applying small caps span class to a variable doesn't work
Hi.
Have just updated to 6.1, which fixes the small caps problem, but I seem to have caused another one with what I've been doing.
In 6.0 the small caps thing wasn't working properly so that upper case letters went funny, but fortunately that's been fixed now - great! Since updating I created ...

Re: Cross-references to headings that aren't in the TOC
Thanks yet again, Lisa.
They really ought to pay you fortunes for keeping Flare users happy - all the tech support you need in one person!
Going to give that a go now, and let's hope it lets me find bookmarks in other topics. Bug report being added too.

Re: Need different font sizes in 2 different PDF outputs
Thanks, Lisa. Two stylesheets it is, then.
Can anyone kindly enlighten me what I have to do to apply the A4 stylesheet so that I can produce the A4 PDF? Do I have to link the stylesheet to the target somehow, or to the TOC that I create the other PDF from, or both, or something else? I'm terribly ...

Re: Changing Max-Width Based on Containing Tags
Not sure i quite understand the question, but this might help.
I have created different <img> classes to use depending on what sort of image I'm using and the context in which they're being used, and have defined the max height in the style (same idea as you're after, just a different attribute ...

Need different font sizes in 2 different PDF outputs
It's Friday and I think my brain has scrambled, so sorry if this is really obvious.
I am creating two PDFs (one for printing, the other to be downloaded from the website so the users can print it themselves on A4). Because of the tiny page size of the first little doc, the font size has to be ...

Re: Prevent tables from starting new pages
Thanks Bob, I've caught that one. The problem occurs if I happen to have several paragraphs within a table cell, but I think I'll just have to live with it (or go to Bodge City and stick in an extra paragraph to force the last one onto the next page... no, I just can't do it!
)

Re: Different Set of Images for Different Targets?
Firstly, I apologise for what might be a very stupid question :-)
I don't understand what you mean about re-using a graphic (and I freely admit I have no idea how snippets work, I haven't got that far into Flare yet!)
The way I would approach the problem is to organise my screenshots in the ...

Cross-references to headings that aren't in the TOC
I am having problems reaching headings that I want to insert cross-references to. When I select Insert > Cross-reference, it only lets me jump to topics (which all start with H2) and not H3s, which are inside the H2 topics.
In case it's relevant, I'm generating the TOC in my doc using H1 and H2 ...

Re: Prevent tables from starting new pages
I'm also a newbie, but this might help you find what works for you.
With tables, there are at least three classes to think about, and you'll need to fiddle with these in your stylesheet.
<tr> relates to whole ROWS of a table,
<th> relates to HEADINGS of a table, if you're using a heading row

Merlinhu, you say they're " not working", so what should they look like and what actually happens? Lisa's very helpful but she does need a bit more information before she can give you any useful information that you can use.

As they say, "in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king". And here I am with a single very myopic, cateract-inflicted eye, but glad to help a fellow newbie. But it was Lisa who gave the important detail, and she's got 20-20 vision with this Flare stuff!

In the dropdown list to the right of the bar at the top, select "Show: alphabetical list" and scroll down to find the "vertical-align" property, or if you're looking at property groups, it's under "Block". So you're in exactly the right place.

Re: Can you specify the style for the following paragraph?
Hi
I'm looking at my stylesheet in Advanced view, and I can't find either of these options - where are they?
Help for a newbie, please, as I really don't like having to manually select the style for the next paragraph every time I use a heading. Thanks.

Did you ever get an answer to this one, Barb? I have the same problem and it's a bit tedious.
