According to the Flare help file (Inserting_Images.htm) "If you select an image outside the project, that file is then copied and placed inside the project. The image file is stored in the Resources\Images folder of the Content Explorer"
It used to work that way when I did a copy-paste of an image ...

Re: Flare 11 to Flare 12 Upgrade
Installed the upgrade this morning and so-far-so-good over here. It does seem to run a few milliseconds slower for me, but that's just barely noticeable.

Re: ASCII and tranlsation
Why not set the style to Wingdings (or similar)? That would avoid any conflicts if someone changes the font for the rest of the text.
For example, here's a dot. You can probably do better than using in-line formatting, but it's a quick example. <span style="font-family: 'Wingdings'">l</span>

Search for "and", "or", "==" and other keywords and operator
I can see why nobody would want the search to find every instance of the word "and" and "or". Except for the case where those are Boolean operators.
Our product has scripting support and people often want to look up the list of operators. But, nobody remembers the term, "operators" and they never ...

Re: Managing Cross References
No need to delete. But, the steps to fix the problem depend on what kind of cross reference you created. Open the Edit Cross-Reference dialog to see what you're dealing with, and read the "About Cross-References" chapter in the Flare help to find out what you can do with it.

I would check the properties, both of the topic and the entry in the menu. Perhaps a conditional is set?

Re: I am having skin problems.
If I were debugging this here, I'd:
1) open the project and check that the skin it's using is the skin I think it's using.
More than once I've discovered that I was working on the wrong file after an hour of effort.
2) try choosing a family rather than a font. Maybe your browser isn't able to show ...

Re: Format/Layouts - New PC
Probably an unhelpful question but, are you certain that the problem is with Flare rather than the computer's video settings? I'm not sure what you mean by "distorted", but if the only thing that changed was the computer, I'd look to that first.

Re: F1 links from an editor to my CHM no longer work
Thanks, but nope.
Took all morning before I saw it: The problem turned out to be that ITCC.dll was not loaded on this new machine.
You'd think that would be done automatically during the installation.

F1 links from an editor to my CHM no longer work (Solved)
Hi,
I build a .CHM version of our help files because the programmers use it with their favourite text editor. They register it with the editor, then when they highlight a word and press F1, the text editor will open my .CHM file, check the index (not the alias), find the matching link and open the ...

Re: Using Glossary with Top Nav
There's an easy way to do this with Top Nav: Add a page named Glossary. Put it into your menu.
The content will include two items: The title, "Glossary", and a glossary proxy.
Glossary links within your text work as they always did.

Yeah, I'd start with those.
Seriously though, it depends on what you're doing. Fer'instance, I had to learn and try reltables before I could make the decision not to use them for my project. (Great feature; just wasn't going to work with what I'm doing in this instance.)

Re: Add a favorite external editor to Flare 8 choices?
Moved to a new Windows 7 computer yesterday, and bumped into the same problem. The ability to right-click and Open With my favourite image editor (Paint.Net like the others here) isn't something I'm willing to live without, so I dug until I found the solution. Much thanks goes to "Tamnais" and ...

Trials are going well over here. I rebuilt my documentation to use top-nav and asked everyone in the company to use it instead of the tri-pane version.

Re: Table style with print / non-print variations
Thanks for the suggestion. Not quite there though. A sample from my table.css file follows. Realizing that this table only ever has two columns, I was able to define output-specific specifiers for column 2 within the Flare interface, but couldn't see anywhere to put a specifier for the overall table ...

Table style with print / non-print variations
This is taking way too long to figure out...
I'd like to define a table style so that it has a width of 70% in HTML5 (to make room for the side menu), but 100% in PDF. Should be easy enough: Add @media-print and @media-nonprint sections to the top of the CSS file and define the appropriate ...

If you view the source code, is Menu.png present? If so, could be a color or other formatting problem.

Turns out that it is possible. According to Rob, "just be sure in the project CSS that you edit the MadCap|indexProxy style mc-output-support to equal ALL so it will work in web outputs." See thread, viewtopic.php?f=13&t=20992#p108476

Re: Variables at Topic level

Still experimenting with it over here. So far, everyone I've shown it to likes the look of it. But, as others have noted, I am going to have to make some significant changes to my TOC before I install the result on anyone's workstation.

Assuming that you're using a <video> tag rather than a straight <a href>, did you include the word, autoplay?
W3 Schools has a good tutorial about adding video links to HTML5.
