Re: WebHelp and Search Engine Optimization
Thank you, Shawn. We recently rebuilt our support docs site . This time around, I used Bootstrap to build our masterpages. The modal with the email thingy is using Bootstrap + Feedburner. Feedburner basically takes the RSS feed from our changelog and sends an email to folks whenever it's updated ...

So sorry for the delayed answer.

Re: Lingo Source Control Setup
Thanks for the empathy, Nita. I believe I've worked it out now. We're using Tortoise SVN for source control. For each Lingo project we have these files and folders committed. Maybe this will help you.

Re: WebHelp and Search Engine Optimization
In Flare you can choose to not include a topic in the search results, which obviously wouldn't apply to search engines. I'd just have to generate a list of these 'excluded' topics and add them to the robots file; thankfully I don't have very many.

Re: WebHelp and Search Engine Optimization
Inserting a topic with the TOC in it is not a bad idea. The challenge would be helping the search engines to find that page.

Lingo Source Control Setup
I'd love some advice on what should/shouldn't go under source control within a Lingo project. I had everything safely under source control, but doing a project update to bring in changes from the original English project introduced a number of conflicts.

I'm getting the same error. I wish the error messages could be tied to what's triggering them somehow.

Re: WebHelp and Search Engine Optimization
Mr. Entropy,
I'll post something on the forums here once we're finished working on it. Here's a hint about what we're doing though.

Re: Search Engine Optimization
Search engine optimization for webhelp is a big concern of ours, too. We're in the process of building out a search engine friendly Flare output. I posted a bit on the issue in the forums over here: WebHelp and Search Engine Optimization. I'll write a post soon when we have it ready.

Re: Graphics not displaying in Word output
The Ctrl+A procedure didn't work for me. It may be because I'm on Word 2010. However, I was able to embed the images in the file by doing the following.
1. I went to the File > Info tab. On the bottom-right of that panel is an option to "Edit Links to Files." Select that.

Lingo Error - "Could not find a part of the path ..."
Has anyone else come across this error in Lingo 4? I'm on Win 7 64-bit. I can navigate to the file in Windows explorer, but Lingo can't apparently.

What is the major defect? You aren't using a WebHelp Mobile output are you?
The WebHelp Mobile output has quite a major defect with regards to stylesheets, and can completely mess up your stylesheet (in the output).

Re: WebHelp and Search Engine Optimization
Search engine optimization for webhelp may be one of the most important topics in this forum, I think. Most customers are going to start looking for help on Google, not in the search panel in Flare. You can have the best help on the planet, but you’ll only frustrate customers if they can’t find ...
