I need to add an 'open a ticket' button and link to the output, in the header ideally
I remember using javascript to link the company logo to the top of the help, but it seems to do that automagically now.
I need to add an additional button and no idea where/how to do that. help is not helpful ...

Re: separate project for Support
ok, very familiar with most of this but not what I'm asking about. FYI, I've used that option to include only files linked and it's worked fine. Don't know what references would cause trouble but have never come across this - much more of an issue for topics to appear in search even tho they're not ...

Re: separate project for Support
I need to create documents, based on TOCs, that contain bits from product help and bits from support.
I will need PDFs as well as HTML, and it sure what you're saying about that.
Conditions won't be used in support docs or the new composite docs.

Re: Creating Styles for Variables
Several years ago I wrote a series of blog posts that cover these topics. If you are interested, you can find them here.
Unfortunately, this blog post uses the lightest shade I've seen and isn't really readable. FYI
Plus, it doesn't seem to mention anything about applying styles anyway, so will ...

page layouts and page types issues
Update - this seems to be pretty messed up. Created a new layout, using the defaults (default one only had one page, 'normal').
So new layout has title, l, r, empty etc - which are still not reflected in the page type dropdown.
Got the title page to work (no header, no footer) but the numbering is ...

I can see all the details but not the big picture in the flare help, which is often the case.
What's the best practice for using variables like product name that will change at a certain point in time, and not need to change back?

window panes tiles always visible, in the way
The tiles to use when dragging different panes to a new location in the layout are often on and in the way. Is there a specific way to get rid of these?
I can click around and eventually they go away, but that's not a good use of my time!
Any help appreciated, screenshot included

It's in the actual link properties. Right-click on the link and it shows the properties, with some options.

Where's the file to reset everything?
Support often suggests deleting a file to fix issues - is it the content.cacbf in Analyzer folder? Before I restart flare to allow this, thought I'd check.
Also deleted things in Users folder, but don't think those files are too impactful.

This has always just appeared by default, but currently is a generic icon.

tips appreciated, thx!

I want to remove (or reduce) the gray borders between the nav and main sections.

So, the madcap doc on this is pretty obscure:
window? frame? hiding? 'new' also doesn't say it opens in a new browser window with no TOC/nav. removing all other framesets?
same frame? sheesh. would be nice if it were explained but looks like I'll have to try each one to see how it works

This is working differently than before and really problematic.
Setting a link to open in New window/tab causes it, in the output, to open the topic without the left toc navigation.
How is this a good thing?

I'm actually going to replace the stylesheet with an older one - I do use Flare to modify it, as I've not needed to customize too extensively.
