Re: Duplicate Topics in PDF Output

When you have two headings in the TOC that are linked to the same HTML file, you need to mark the second one as Exclude From Print or it will be included twice in the print output (but only once in online output - not sure why). I have set up an Exclude From Print condition specifically for that ...

Re: Table Headings Color in PDF Output

In Flare, if you open the Content Explorer, you can select Resources > TableStyles. You should be able to find TableStyleBasic. If you right click on it and select Open, you get the five tabs you mentioned. Try changing the background colour on the Header tab and hopefully that will update the style ...

Re: Page Numbers in PDF Output are off

Hi Christina, I'm not sure if this will solve your problem but you can change both of those things by right clicking on the topic and selecting Properties. The Printed Output tab has a Section Break area. Under the Conditional Test tab, you can untick whatever condition the green represents.

Re: Change table body row to table header row?

You forced me to do some research! The header row only seems to apply to table styles, e.g. row colours and borders. You still have to apply the paragraph style to the text that sits in the header row manually.

Hopefully somebody else can shed more light on this.

Re: Change table body row to table header row?

I don't know if there is a way to bulk update your tables. But all you have to do to change a normal table row to a header row is select it, then apply "th" style from the Style drop down box.

For some reason, I thought you were producing PDF output? In which case, you should definitely make the changes in the Print medium.

Re: Help needed with page breaks

Could it be a Keep With Next setting? Word has it; I'm not certain about Flare.

Actually, I've just looked in these forums and there's a topic that might be relevant (if you haven't seen it already): viewtopic.php?f=10&t=28325

I'm still using Flare v11 but here's what my settings look like for a heading level - under the Print Support setting.

Re: Help needed with page breaks

Sounds like you are doing the right things. I can only suggest that you check you are changing the style in the correct medium, i.e. either the Print or Non Print medium.

Re: Adding Padding to Master Page or All Topics

Have you checked that the medium is set to the Non-Print option, both when you're viewing your content and updating your styles? You could be mistakenly updating your print styles.

Re: How to change background color of search results

Edit the skin and select the Styles tab. Then select the Search Results section and Search Highlight . You can set the colour for the highlights there.

Here's the link to the topic in the manuals: http://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare2017r2/Content/Search/Flare/Search-Highlighting/Customizing ...

Re: Creating new topics related to existing topics

That might work for your TOC and directory structure but you can't assume that's the norm. I don't think you can expect Flare to know where you want to put your new files. I think the best they could do is maybe default to the last folder you added a file to. That might be worth a feature request.

Re: Creating new topics related to existing topics

When you right click in the TOC and select Add New Topic, you get to choose what folder the new file goes into. If you don't select a folder, it goes into the root directory.

The forums come to my aid again (not this post specifically but this is the most recent one on this topic). After installing Windows Updates, I could no longer build to Word with the error given above. After reading the forums, I repaired Office 365 and, voila, I am up and running again!

I can't help with your problem but you can view the log file by selecting the appropriate target in the Project Explorer, right clicking and selecting View Build Log.

I don't know if there's an easier way to do it but you could save a blank project as a template, with just the default language set, and then use that template whenever you create a new project.

Re: Table Style nullifies/disconnects - why?

Have you checked that there is no inline formatting which is overwriting or interfering with your table styles? I.e. have you tried selecting Reset Local Cell Formatting on the table and then reapplying the appropriate table style?
