Hi dorcutt. I am using a master page layout. The footer looks like this:
I did originally import all my documents from Word so that's probably where the issue arose.
wclass, I don't have any variables! Do I need to create variables for my headers and footers? Thanks.

Re: Word Output
I get the same message in all my Word documents and have done since I started using Flare - back at version 8 I think. I'd love to know how to fix it in Flare.
What I do is go into my Word document footer, toggle field codes, change the {STYLEREF h1 \* MERGEFORMAT} field to {STYLEREF h1_heading1 ...

No, I don't use source control, Dan. I am fortunate to be the only person working with Flare and get by with just backups.

Re: Large Flare project files: when is a project too large?
My largest project has over 6000 topics and over 6000 images! I don't find Flare too slow but I do have subfolders.

Re: Somes images have <p><img> others just have <p>
I don't know the answer but could it be that some images are not in a format recognised by Flare, e.g. some images are not jpegs? Are the images that aren't tagged as images in a different folder within Flare?

Re: Hide Title Page and TOC proxy in TOC
Do you have headings on those pages, e.g. a Heading1 on your title page that says Title Page and another on your TOC page that says Table of Contents? If the pages are blank, except for the TOC proxy, I wouldn't have thought they would appear in the generated table of contents.

Re: Compiler crashes
I was having terminations when compiling a large project to HTML5 output in a Flare 11 Windows 7 environment, and there were no errors in the log file. However, if I opened the output (default.htm) via Windows Explorer, everything was fine. The output had been built correctly.

Re: Heading 1, 2, 3 TOC/body
I'm not quite certain what you're saying, but you just apply the heading style you want to the first line in the topic, i.e. Heading 2 or 3. In the stylesheet (Content Explorer > Resources > Stylesheets), make sure Heading 2 and 3 don't have a page break set (in the PrintSupport property). When you ...

Re: Remaining with Webhelp
I did the switch from Webhelp to HTML5 on upgrading to Flare 11. I found that even though my online manuals didn't change, users really liked the HTML5 output and the fact that the search is more like a Google search and so is more familiar to them.

Re: Flare 11 - Menus running off the screen
When I was deciding whether to use the HTML5 Top Nav output, I read through the relevant sections of Flare's manuals. They suggested that with the Top Nav output, there should be a limited number of menu items at the top of the screen (e.g. 5), no more than 3 levels of menus (headings) in the ...

Re: How to add a first/cover page in Empty template
I don't know if this is relevant to what you are doing, but I found that when I put an image in my title page layout, that image appears when your output is PDF but not when your output is Word. And from my investigation, that's just the way it is with Word output!

Re: Search not working in HTML5 output/Flare 11
Hi Feebeegeebee, I increased the chunk size and then tested with Partial Word Searching on and then off. I still had the same problem when Partial Word Searching was turned on but I'm glad this worked for you.

Re: Search not working in HTML5 output/Flare 11
I have found a workaround to this issue for the time being. As well as turning off Enable Partial Word Searching, I increased the search chunk size from the default 30,000 bytes to the maximum 100,000 bytes. This means I have fewer search chunks and my searches are now working. Of course, the bug is ...

Thanks for the answer, Margaret. Unfortunately it doesn't relate to my issue.

Sorry for my ignorance but I have no idea what a JQuery is. Is it something you insert manually or something that is created automatically when you build HTML5 output? I have not inserted anything manually.

Re: How to save a build log with v11?
I'd also like to be able to open the log file while Flare is building. I have a very large help system and the little green progress bars don't really give you much of an idea of where the build is up to. So as well as a Save Log button, I'd like to see an Open Log button in Build window.

Single sourcing. Keep all your documents in one place and then publish the entire collection, or just subsets, to various outputs.

Re: In HTML5 output, how to change color next to logo...
I think you're right, Kurt - it's the same setting for both. And the Main Page > Background is where you change it. I have the colour set in the Gradient as well as the Colour settings. It might be that if one of them is set to Transparent, it's overriding the colour you have set?

Search not working in HTML5 output/Flare 11
I have two projects. In both of them, I am using the HTML5 Tripane skin. In one project, I can search for phrases and find virtually any phrase I search for. In the other, nearly every phrase I search for returns the result "Your search for xxx returned 0 results", even when I know it is a common ...

Re: Is topnav a good idea, friendly user?
I decided not to use the Top Nav skin as there are too many heading levels in my output and it would take a lot of restructuring to make my manuals usable. Instead, I am using the new HTML5 Tripane skin. No, it's not as sexy but at least I know users will be able to find the information they need.

I have recently upgraded to Flare 11 and am also having problems with builds - to HTML5. I have a very large project and it definitely takes longer to build than in my old version of Flare, building to Webhelp. However, my problem now is that the build ends up shown in yellow with a Terminated ...

Sorry, I didn't get any information about this problem but it seems to have disappeared. It might have been a problem with a particular version of a browser. You could ask the users to try using a different browser. I also find that clearing the browser cache helps to sort out any viewing problems ...
