Re: Vertical align footer at page bottom - WebHelp target
[quote="i-tietz"]We use such a div as header and the heading (h1) of the document is inside the div. A long heading can produce a line break and the div gets higher, so I use an onload/onresize javascript that finds out what the height of that div is and sets the appropriate padding-top for the body ...

Re: Auto-generate a Back to Top Link?
Have a google for 'back to top javascript' - most likely what you are after. You should be able to add this code to your master page and that will place it on every page - though it would look a little weird if it was on a short page where it wasnt required, so maybe you could just drop the code on ...

Re: Single sourcing numbered lists
I have a similar thing with my project, multiple lists that are usually very similar but have a few slight differences.
What I do is to create a snippet for each list item. This snippet has no P formatting which allows me to format it when I add it to the list in the topic.

Re: Accommodating Industry Specific Terminology
Dont thnik you can do it without creating different versions, using variables, for different clients.
What you are after is something that dynamically changes the wording based on the client that is viewing it, how do you distinguish between clients? do they need to logon to your site or something ...

Re: Stylesheet not appropriately applied to Web output
check the indent on the OL tags and the LI tags (and sub-classes if you are using them)
Compare the (default) Print and Online stylesheet mediums. There is probably an extra indent somewhere in there that is causing it.

Re: Opening TOC Frame when linking to specific WebHelp topic
Easiest way to do it is get the link you are going to send your client, put it in your own browser and youll see the Open with Navigation button on the left, now copy THAT link because it is the one that has the navigation and the specific topic loaded.
The link will look something like this..think ...

Flare 8?
Hi all,
A little early perhaps, but hoping that MadCap stick to a 1 year version cycle, so any whispers or information on Flare 8? Will there be one, can we expect it in Feb/March 2012?
Cmon, spill the beans and stop holding out on us.

Did you check the html and/or the body style? They usually have a little spacing in there tucked away.

Re: Multiple Variable Sets
Yeah pretty much, but you can create multiple variable sets if you want/need too though.
I just have 1 set with about 20 variables assigned, version number, document names etc then change each of those at target level.

Re: Multiple Variable Sets
Variables work a little different in Flare than to RoboHelp. Im trying to remeber exactly how they worked in RH8, but from what I remember you have a variable set and then 'versions' that you can change for each output etc.

Re: Hyperlink between class span="bold" without whitespace?
You will have to add the space to the word This and describes.
This </span> and <span> describes
I dont know if its a bug, or maybe something that the compiler needs. If you add some text inside the <p> tag that isnt nested in a span tag then the spaces will be picked up. But because the text is ...

Re: How to applying span class to <td> table cell?
Hmmm, I see what you mean. From messing around with this I think you have 2 options. Either put a space after the text and then dont include that space when you set the span. I guess that's what the other thread was referring to.

Re: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
Have you made any cahnges to your stylesheet recently? I had that exact error on mine and it was caused by styles being used in my output that I was hiding in the styles toolbar, this put a "mc-disabled: true;" tag around the style and that caused the error. Flare usually throws these in at the end ...

Hi all,
Just realised I'm getting this error when I build content. I have found the cause, but the solution isnt ideal.

Content re-use? buttons etc
Hi all,
Is there anyway to reuse custom content in mimic? I am using the same few buttons to do different tasks. Thing is, if I decide to change the font on these buttons, then I have to change it on all of them. Is there some way to reuse objects in a easy way?
Thanks,
Nick

Weird title but I couldnt quite think of how to word it.
Anyway, I'm recroding a bunch of short clips and I just started playing around with the 'interactive' side of it where the frame waits for a user to click a specific area before it continues on. i.e. user has to click OK for the next ...

I believe Author-it Aspect only does this by using active directory. We have a similar need with our software and user roles, but it is seen as a pipe dream right now. Like people have said, you could have thousands of combinations of content.

Re: custom icons in webhelp toolbar and FF 4.0 causing issues
I'd reccommend upgrading to Flare 7.2 and update firefox.
I'm not sure which update fixed the issue, but I believe it was the FF update. FF is on v7 now anyway.
Nick.

Do you mean if you are pasting an image directly into a topic and the save window comes up? No there is no new folder in that screen. Folders need to be set up prior or after the fact.

Conditions will work, but if the table starts to get bigger and bigger it may become daunting to manage.
Snippets would work, though, I'm guessing you would have a lot of snippets with very small amounts of information in each. This wouldnt be so much of a problem, but if you choose this option then ...
