The option is Show Markers.
Unfortunately, turning this off turns off span style markers, which are very useful to have turned on.
The other thing is, turning this on and off does seem to affect the page layout when looking at it for print as this little icon can move content onto another page if ...

Image sizes in CSS, Resolutions, and Custom Bullets
Hi all,
Few issues at the moment with Print layouts and generation.
1. When previewing a topic in the Print layout the images that I have are shown in their fullsize, breaking well over the margin. I have these all set as an <img> style, and in WebHelp I have set the thumbnail etc for them, is ...

Fix the width of the first column in a table
Hi all,
Is it possible?
I have a hundreds table with plenty of rows and a couple columns in each. Because we are wanting to produce WebHelp and Printed material, its important that I can set the width of this first column in the tables. Doing that means that the table will auto-size if its in a ...

Quick way to see all topics that use an image?
Hi all,
Is there a fast way to query an image and see where it is being used? I was imagining some easy right-click option showing all links, but I cant find anything. Just want to see where an iamge is being used before I decide to change it, or delete it.
Thanks,
Nick

Re: How to make a Technical Style Guide for software?
How many of you actually make your own style guide?
I've worked in 3 different s/w companies now and all have had their own style guides. Maybe some stuff was taken from guides like MS etc, but generally the styles are always custom and have been created internally.
Interesting....

If you want to be really sneaky, take the file home, install AIR runtime on a home PC that you know you have the rights for, then try and install the help......if it gives you the same error even then it may be something else.....you could test it further by downloading some other help files or AIR ...

Almost guarantee that it is related to installation rights.
.air is basically a .exe and windows sees it as such, after isntalling for a little while, but not actually doing anything, it hits that error.

Does it?
A square select tool, circle....anything? I just want to give some white space on each side of my captures to add a few text boxes in white space, I thought I could just increase the page width and drag the image into the middle to give me space on each side so I can put boxes in the white ...

Hi all.

Interesting about the conditional indicators, I haven't even got any conditionals setup yet, so I'm not sure if thats affecting, though perhaps the option is turned on and thats enough to cause a problem....will have to check it out. thanks for the tip.

Hi all,
We are still to implement our WebHelp system on our servers and I'm wondering something.
Currently, we are looking at 3 different version of our help file for each of the 3 client types we have. 90% of content will be the same for everyone, but there are some sections which any one of those ...

Re: the trouble with thumbnails
In my project, the <img> tag is applied to different kinds of images, depending on how I want the click or hover to activate the thumbnail. I have <img_1> and <img_2> sub-classes. Each of those has the property set, and there is no property set on the parent <img> class. Have you checked that the ...

Printing from WebHelp with thumbnail images
Currently, I have a lot of thumbnails, it simply makes the pages a lot clearer, but when trying to print these, the thumbnail prints, I would prefer to set the full sized version of the image to show up instead? Is this possible?
Thanks,
Nick

How do you display large images in webhelp?

I'm interested to know what people are doing to display large screen capture images in their webhelp.

Re: Control spacing/alignment between the number and text
thanks for the info, I will have to look into it further down the track I think.
While we're talking about lists, do you know if there is a way to change the decimal to a different symbol, I'm wanting to use a bracket ) to seperate numbers from text in some of my lists, rather than decimal points.

Re: Control spacing/alignment between the number and text
I can use the list-style-position to Inside.
This aligns the numbers to the left, however text that goes over the line will fall below the number and the space between the number and text doesnt float to line the text up smoothly.
What im looking for is this:
1. text text text text text text text ...

Re: Flare using HUGE amounts of RAM
I've already done the standard turn on/off stuff, and the spikes dont happen when I open the project. Right now, I've got the project open, its using about 160K and zero CPU. But as soon as I start jumping around between topics and opening stuff up, RAM usage starts to climb, and it never comes back ...
