Re: Need an X or Close on pop-up images
Belay that request for ideas . . . JasonSTI was able to help me figure out how to make an X icon in the upper right corner of the pop-up frame. I'm good-to-go now.

Need an X or Close on pop-up images
In user help testing, I am getting the feedback that users do not find it intuitive to click a popped-up graphic to close it--they are all looking for an X icon in the upper right corner of the pop-up frame, a Close button, or something like that. They also try clicking outside of the graphic to ...

Re: Broken links to Project/Advanced/RoboHelpStatus.flfts
Thank you, Margaret and Nita!! It really helps to know what happened with that darn file that so many files were linked to. :-) I checked the Advanced folder and it wasn't there, so then I followed Nita's tip and created a file tag set named RoboHelpStatus. I closed and reopened the Flare project ...

Broken links to Project/Advanced/RoboHelpStatus.flfts
I imported a large RoboHelp project into Flare and am slogging through the cleanup to make it a nice top navigation help set. When I run a report for broken links, I get 969 references to this missing file: Project/Advanced/RoboHelpStatus.flfts
What is the RoboHelpStatus.flfts file? Is it ...

Re: New Flare installation has messed up a decoration layout
Nita,
You are my hero--that was exactly what the problem was! Thank you! I will get the graphic updated to a 300 DPI version for the long term--but for now, I was able to build the PDF and it's ready for hand-off on Monday.

New Flare installation has messed up a decoration layout
The laptop that I normally use Flare started having problems, so it got turned over to the company's IT guy for reimaging. In the meantime, I was given a loaner laptop to use. I reinstalled MadCap Flare and copied my Flare project's to the loaner laptop, and resumed work. Using the loaner laptop, I ...

Re: Flare 10 - Image in .flpgl suddenly too big for its frame
You are my hero! That fixed the problem! Mine isn't a low-resolution image, so I don't know why Flare would resize it--but now that my output is back to normal, I'm happy again.
Thanks!

Flare 10 - Image in .flpgl suddenly too big for its frame
I have a page layout (.flpgl) file that I have been using, unchanged, since 7/26/2012. In the upper right corner of the file is a decoration frame with the company's logo image in it--the logo file has been unchanged since 1/31/2013. As late as 3/6/2014 I have been building PDF output with this page ...

Re: Search only returns results in current topic, not all topics
Ah! You're right! I had gotten the full search set up and working over a year ago, and then hadn't touched it since. Just recently an outside tester complained that "Search isn't working" and referenced the Search in the toolbar. Which, as you point out is the Quick Search (I'd forgotten about it ...

Search only returns results in current topic, not all topics

Both fixed width and autofit columns in same table?
I would like to have tables where I can specify the width of all columns except the right-most column, which I'd like to be a variable-width column based on the the output window width. Right now, I am using the table property Fixed column width for the whole table, which has been fine in the past ...

Left-margin formats fine in Flare, too deep in WebHelp build
I just updated to IE8, and suddenly am seeing a difference in my left margins for ordered and unordered lists, between the layout I see in Flare (Layout = Web, Medium = non-print) and what I'm seeing in the WebHelp in the browser. The output in the WebHelp has a much deeper left margin than it shows ...

Flare V8--still can't turn off the Index pane in the output?
I've seen in posts dating backing to 2006 that there is no way to customize the DotNet viewer, or to keep the Index pane from appearing in the output by editing the skin. I guess I was hoping that maybe MadCap had fixed this problem in MadCap Flare V8. I am using V8, and in the skin editor for the ...

Can I have different sized popups?
I have some popups in my WebHelp, and in my style sheet, I have a.Popup style, mc-popup-width set to a rather large value to accomodate my largest popup need. However, I periodically have topic popups that don't need such a large popup window, and I'd like to set up classes for a small popup and a ...

Re: Auto-numbered paragraphs showing as a tables in WebHelp?
I take it back.
Flare was not ignoring me, I was changing the value in the wrong medium.
Once I entered the negative number in the correct medium, I got the appearance I need.
Thanks again for the help!

Re: Auto-numbered paragraphs showing as a tables in WebHelp?
Ok, that fixed the tables-in-the-output problem. :-) Thanks!
But the head scratcher now is, with mc-auto-number-position back to inside-head, I get the following formatting:
1. xxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ...

Eh, no worries.

Auto-numbered paragraphs showing as a tables in WebHelp?
I frequently have cases where users need to repeat a series of steps in a procedure (i.e. Repeat steps 2-6). Naturally, I don't like hard-coding the step numbers in, in case later updates to the steps cause the numbering to change (i.e. now they need to repeat steps 2-7).

Re: Automatically update TOC entry to match topic title?
Using the System.Title variable suggestion worked great for my WebHelp build, but when I built a PDF version of the content with the same TOC, the topic titles showed the file name instead of the name in the TOC.
Example: In the TOC, the first topic is called Introduction . The name of the file ...

Automatically update TOC entry to match topic title?
Sometimes when working on topics, I edit the heading text of the topic, and forget to update the corresponding entry in the TOC to match the new heading text for the topic. I hate it when the TOC entries and topic headings don't match--is there a way to have Flare automatically change the TOC entry ...
