Re: Flare 2018 changes Capture styles

I have also reported this bug - the text in my callouts vanishes when pdfs are built under 2018, fine with 2017r3.
(There appears to be no problem in the xml editor or preview, only on build.)

Position of dropdown from header item

I'm sure I have done this in the distant past, but cannot work out how!

When you select a header item, in my top nav help, the dropdown menu is aligned with the right hand edge of the menu item it is associated with:

I want the left hand edge of the dropdown to align with the left hand edge of the ...

Re: Working with Images

In your switch to divs, do put the colour on the div, not on the paragraph.

One other suggestion, a work around rather than a cure, is to increase the z-index value (under Positioning) on the img element.

I have some h1s containing images which I want to hold their position, without interference ...

You seem to be having a bad Friday.
Not much to go on, but here are some guesses and some questions:

1. H4 in TOC text looks different in pdf -
- could your p.TOC4 style have different definitions for default and print mediums? You can bring the styles up alongside one another in like this to see ...

In discussion with MadCap support we have established that this is a bug (now on the list as #139108).

Re: Generated PDF incorrect, content shifted on page

Just a suggestion:

If I ever see an image displaced like that I would suspect that it is proving too big (maybe only by 1mm) for the page layout frame it is supposed to be in and popping up in the next one it can fit. That is something easily done if the paper size default was done in inches then ...

One topic will not open in Contributor

Anyone else experienced this?

I have one topic in many hundreds which opens OK in Flare and builds fine in my outputs, but when that topic is included in a review package it fails to load in contributor, like this:

I have been successfully including a span class around text to make buttons appear in the flow of user instructions in a pdf

Re: Zip Project file is just Content folder?

Did you make your zip folder from inside Flare, by choosing Project > Zip Project?
If you did then I would expect you to recover everything needed for the project.
I have been doing it with every version of Flare from 6 onwards and when I unzip I get back:

Re: Flare 2017 messes up pdf cover page

I have always found you need to take great care in Flare with images in the page layout.
When something is called up as a background image in the page layout it only ever comes in at screen rather than print resolution, regardless of settings.

To get around this I use a header in the page layout ...

Re: Multiple products - multiple manual types

You have two ways of proceeding

(1) Keep everything in the one project.
Tip: Use folders in the content area to group like things. You might be able to have your conditions at the folder level, eg only use the topics in this folder for product A user manuals or only use the topics in this folder in ...

My table style which happily allows tables to break across pages as needed has the following elements set:

page-break-after: avoid;
page-break-before: avoid;
page-break-inside: auto;

which ensures the tables is with text that introduces it and with the figure caption that follows it.

Where my ...

I recognise your frustration, but I guarantee that time spent getting a solid page layout is well worth it, compared with the 'faff every time' that you will experience each time you rebuild a target if you are forced to stop when it is still not quite right.

Suggestions for some of the issues you ...
