I know what you mean about variables, I've been playing the same games with cross referencing.
1. I can set a p.figurecaption up which has "Figure n "
Works fine with my labels - "Figure n System Management Screen"
When I book mark Figure n and cross reference to it it still has to be "Figure n ...

Re: Reset page numbers part way through document
After a hellish amount of trial and error I have cured my own problem, so I thought I'd post what went wrong in case others find themselves there.
In the xml for the controlling TOC there was a "/" missing from the "/>" at the end of the TOC entry where the page number was reset and there was a ...

Re: Page numbers for Odd/Even Pages (Word output)
Make sure that in your Word target, on the advanced tab, you tick "Generate "Mirror Margins" for MS Word Output - its near the bottom of the list of options.
It has worked for me!

Reset page numbers part way through document
This is the first time I've tried this, so apologies if this query seems basic, but I am stumped.
I am creating a short pdf target, only 8 pages. The first two pages are a cover then a blank, so I want page numbers to restart at 1 from the first page of the chapter and count up "1 of 6", "2 of 6 ...

Hanging after build
Here's a "so what have I broken?" question
My project has developed the habit of hanging after a build. I build a target. Build progress window pops up. Messages trundle through till I get "Output generated in 22 second(s). Done". And at that point it is done I can go to the output folder and find ...

Re: Publishing issues
The bit that surprised me is that use of a Batch Target doesn't get around it - I would have thought that I should be able to publish the whole set to one folder as a batch, but all that the batch process is doing is publishing individual targets one by one without me pressing an extra button.

Re: Optimal settings for graphics in pdf target
Now a follow up question
Since I now have some print optimised 600dpi images - why can't I insert these as images in my page layout? I would have assumed a page layout, being designed exclusively for print media would be happy with them, but it seems to rescale the images to enormous sizes in order ...

Re: Optimal settings for graphics in pdf target
Thank you - having discovered that all the logos supplied by the graphics design company were screen optimised, I have opened them in Visio and saved them as pngs with Printer resolution and size and bingo - crisp logos!

Re: Page layout: Resize image frames proportionally?
When adding images to page layouts I have found it best to insert a new image frame, as described earlier, so that the frame automatically comes up the right size for the image, then I only need to decide where to move it, to get it positioned right in the layout. If I need a different size image I ...

Re: Table formats
Applying colour to the td tag seems to cure it for viewing on screen, there does appear to be a tiny bit of td visible around the p box though I don't see how. But even then I still have small gaps between colour on columns in my pdf, both on screen and when printing - I am producing print output ...

Thanks for the tip - I learned something about complex selectors, but sadly I still have a gap between cells!

box margin and padding zero,
cell padding zero,

Re: Table formats
I have already done the table formats thing, so it looks like setting these things for td p may be the answer I am looking for - but I am a newbie, do I need to somehow add this complex selector to my stylesheet? If so, how? It seems it is not enough to have td and p separately requiring collapsed ...

I have some tables in my documents which use a rows.css TableStyle - code appended below - my niggle is that there appears to be a gap between cells in my table, which shows when I use a font with a background colour. I want to get rid of that gap.

Re: Table Row separators in pdf
I should note that I realise it is an Adobe Reader 9 feature that (by default) the rendering option “enhance thin lines†is now checked. It is not great. The print version is high quality and correct. You get a better version on screen yourself if you uncheck the box under edit>preferences>page ...

Table Row separators in pdf

Text flow into Body sections of Page Layout
I have a page layout with three body sections.
Is there a neat way for me to force certain text into each of those three body sections?
or at least to mark a point after which text should now go into 'body [2]' rather than 'body [1]'?
I thought a column break might do it, but I appear to be wrong in ...

Re: Adding a font
Thanks for your thoughts
To clarify I was thinking -
are there fonts which Flare just won't support?
what file type would I need to install a new font?
how do I select that file from Flare, so that Flare knows it is now an option?

Adding a font
Just going through a rebranding exercise - if the rebranding people pick a font which is not in Flare by default, how would I add it?
