I think the XML editor can only pick up general items from the skin - not tried colours, the project I'm currently working on has a white backdrop!
If you preview a topic as the target, once it has a default skin set, it is mostly there (eg the component skins required by master page come into ...

Re: How do I set the default HTML5 skin?
In your Target, under the Skin tab, you set the default for general and component skins.
If you make that Target your primary, then that is how you will see things you are working on in the XML Editor.

To start you in the right direction: you will want to identify the page layout to use in the properties of items in your TOC.

Have you tried switching your "Connection Mode" from Passive (default) to Active. I experienced Flare timing out and failing because our IT had tweaked something that changed the mode. In an ftp program it will try one mode then try the other if the first didn't work but Flare won't wait that long ...

It thinks you need the resources folder for any images if you have not chosen to embed images in the Word target file.

Maybe post a picture to show us where the bullets are aligning.
In the case I mentioned, where the list item text gets spread around the tags the bullet aligns with the bottom of the list item text, and it generally happens just for a few bullets.

There are lots of things that could be doing this.
I suggest you first look in the Text Editor view at how your list tags are nested.

Renaming topics in small way glitch for top nav
I have a top nav target which is close to release, so I have been making just one or two tiny tweaks before rebuilding the target.
Doing this I have noticed that Flare is happy for you to alter a topic name in a tiny way, such as change capitalisation, remove a hyphen or a stray space from the topic ...

Re: Autonumbering of dropdown not showing up in pdf-toc
I can't offer a good fix, but have been exploring similar things myself.
Flare doesn't seem to be able to recognise an auto-number as a distinct item, even though it will display in situ, if it occurs within a dropdown. You will find the same issue if you try to cross-reference to the item.

Re: Case-Sensitive Matches in Search Results
Weird but true!
I searched for "near" in my output and got 0 matches.
Searched for "NEAR" and got 8 matches (none of them uppercase - so I guess that is sort of case-insensitive!)
Up to now I had only tested output for keywords relevant to our products - with satisfactory results.

I am happy to go with company style (to a point).
I try to make online outputs look very close to website look-and-feel - same colours, fonts etc... ~100% on home page and >90% after that. (They did choose free to embed fonts, so I put these in a Fonts folder to call up with @font-face, and link ...

If you look at the list through the Analysis tab More Reports > Unused Items (Flare 2018) you can select as many items as you like and press the big red X. (Before 2018 you had to do it from Analyzer.)

You get a word count and a snippet count in Analyzer Statistics. I haven't played with Flare 2018 yet as it messes up my Capture images, but if the Analyzer functionality has indeed moved inside Flare you should be able to see that.
