Re: different layout when browser is minimized/maximized
That is what responsive HTML is supposed to do. There are settings to determine at what width of the window it cuts over from normal to a more compact view....but I forgot where that is and don't have Flare at hand at the moment.

Re: Creating an in-house Flare User Group
My suggestions is to have folks take a look at the online courses from MadCap. What might work is buddying up, pair a seasoned writer who has a leg up with Flare with someone who is new to this. In regards to sharing information and discussions, use Teams or Slack or a tool like that. Also, a wiki o...

Right, "Microsoft Inside."Still, there seems to be something to 4.7.1 that causes previously working applications to fail.

Re: Path too long on new operating systems
This is a Windows limitation stemming from the DOS days and applies to all versions on Windows. There is nothing Lingo can do. Win 10 and Server 2016 are different beasts, so what works on Win 10 might not work the same way or at all on 2016. Since you confirmed that Win 10 doesn't have that problem...

Re: Annoying error message: "MadCap has stopped working"
The latest version is 4.7.1 and it broke some stuff for me. You may want to look if 4.7.1 is installed and remove it.

Re: Web Published output as an exe
My suggestion then is to roll your own. What you need is an executable that contains a fairly recent browser engine and a means to display HTML files, execute JavaScript, and process parameters passed to it so that you can make context sensitive help calls. That is a development task for which I sug...

Re: Web Published output as an exe
Thanks for clearing things up. In that case, you may want to look at an entirely different approach. You essentially want to retain control over the content because it is important that the content follows specific rules. Dropping some HTML files on some server you have no control over opens the doo...

Re: Web Published output as an exe
Actually scene is like this, 1. I will put project in svn. 2. Technical team will pass it with the customer build from svn only. 3. Customer will press F1, on clicking the F1 the respective page(of my project) will appear. Will everything work after ziping the project ? Out of the box with no furth...

Re: Web Published output as an exe
You can package the output any way you want, but in the end it either needs to be shipped to the customer as WebHelp or deployed to production servers as WebHelp. Otherwise customers will not be able to consume the content. Packing it as zip archive or any other format will essentially only keep you...

Re: Has Madcap announced end of support for Flare 12?
As to what kind of support you are asking for? Support on how to use F12 or bug fixes? In either case, you better ask MadCap directly. While some from MadCap frequent these forums, they are peer to peer forums and most if not all of us are not in a position to speak on behalf of MadCap.

Re: Web Published output as an exe
What is the concern of folks making changes? That is the point of a shared source repository. You should also keep the sources in source control and not the compiled output. As far as your problem is concerned, Flare as a means to zip a project. You could submit the zip archive rather than the sourc...

Do you mean it is empty? If it isn't empty then the error thrown is accurate. Try setting proper permissions on that folder, run Flare as Admin, and check for any other processes that may have a paw on that folder, such as antivirus.

Re: Constrain Full size images
Any chance to resize the original image? I don't know the circumstances, but full size screenshots are often avoidable and typically add more confusion than they help. Different story if this is about construction plans or such, can't cut half of those off. If you want to restrict the size and still...

Enter an index key word for a topic and click save...doesn't save anything. You need to put focus back to the topic tab and then save. What else would I want to save than the currently worked on topic in this context? Wildly annoying.

Re: HTML/PHP Feedback form: Email Submit
Sorry for the basic questions, but did you create the PHP code file in Notepad and then save it in the Scripts folder of your Flare project? If yes, where do you insert the PHP script in your master page? Was it in the header or closer to your HTML? Also, in the PHP code you used, what are the vari...

Re: Flare installer seen as malware
It happened before that an overeager virus scanner flagged the MadCap install. It is not unique to MadCap or the antivirus you are using. All AV applications are a bit wonky, some more than others. You can submit the executable to the AV vendor for analysis and whitelisting. They are the ones who ne...

Re: Any way AT ALL to exclude a topic from search?
We are really confident that the programmers are tying the wrong method to the F1 key. They're using a Keyword method instead of an A-keyword method. However, they will not change. They say it's too much work at this point. I am very intrigued by your idea of making the Master target search in chil...

Re: Any way AT ALL to exclude a topic from search?
The help compiler is from Microsoft and I guess MadCap's hands are tied. The only idea I have is to put an image into the topic, including heading and everything. The search will not pick up on that. Goofy, but effective.

Re: Stop the internal text editor replacing spaces with tabs
I don't think there is a straight forward way. Flare is XML based and there is no such thing as a tab even when you use the <pre> tag to retain formatting as is. My suggestion is to use a tool such as Notepad++ to paste the code samples into. Do a find and replace on the tab character and replace it...
