Re: Need help with regular expression to remove span tags
Thank you both for your replies. I've seen FAR mentioned a few times, but I was really hoping that a "simple" regEx would do the trick and I wouldn't have to buy and figure out another piece of software. FAR's website is a little confusing but alludes to the fact that there is a free trial...

Need help with regular expression to remove span tags
Good morning! I have project that I need to to strip a specific span tag from. I'll need to do this probably every 12-18 months as I prepare an offshoot deliverable of our normal project. After doing a little poking around here on the forums I found this little gem. RegEx_example.jpg From this examp...

Script Error related to MadCapToolbar.js
In the last couple of weeks, we have started seeing an instance of this script error when trying to open a specific Help page from the application (its called from a menu selection to open our Technical Support page). Error: Unable to get property 'getElementsByTagName' of undefined or null referenc...

Re: Flare 2018 View Output button
Just an FYI that this issue is not just for PDF output. The button also fails to open the output for CHM output. Minor inconvenience and hopefully fixed soon.

Re: Want CSH topic to open showing a different TOC location
LOL! Oh, I know all about conditional settings, we have about 4, for CHM and HTML5 output 2 different product offerings. I thought maybe there was some magical one that would do what i want it to do, which is to not show up in the TOC, but put the focus in the right TOC location. Sorry, I should hav...

Re: Want CSH topic to open showing a different TOC location
Why not include them in the TOC, and condition them as screen only? And that's where you lost me. :) I don't have a "screen only" condition setting. Is this one that you've configured? Is it a default condition from Flare that maybe was deleted from my project before I inherited it? Do yo...

Want CSH topic to open showing a different TOC location
We have several instances in our help where we document a fairly obscure dialog that can be opened in our product. These dialogs have help buttons that opens the help CHM to the correct dialog page as designed, but because we don't include these dialog topics pages in our TOC, when the help opens th...

How can I stop glossary popups within glossary popups?
In our project, the glossary definition file are stored in the Glossary folder, which is a sub-folder of the Content folder. One problem that we are encountering is that when you click a glossary term and the popup window opens, if the definition contains a glossary term, it too is a link and will o...

Re: Question Flare 12 Glossary Settings - Ignore case
Actually I haven't seen the "over-stemming" as an issue for the scenarios you list. This is probably because Flare only turns the first instance on each page into the glossary link. Those terms are a major part of our vocabulary and are usually mentioned in the first paragraph of a page, o...

Re: Question Flare 12 Glossary Settings - Ignore case
Hi Dave, That's a valid question, but that is exactly the model we are trying to get away from by using the "stem" option. It can lead to cluttering up some of our documentation. Consider this scenario: We have a single glossary description for the terms "data entry form" and &qu...

Question Flare 12 Glossary Settings - Ignore case
I'm trying to tweak our glossary settings a bit to improve their function and I'm running into a little trouble with the following settings for a term: * Stem words to include term variants in automatic link creation * Ignore case in automatic link creation I have several words where I DO want to &q...

Re: Setting the favicon in the address bar or tab
Just thought I'd follow up with what ended up working for us. As noted, the JavaScript below, was not working for Microsoft Edge or IE 11. I've implemented the fix noted below and it doesn't seem to be working with either Microsoft Edge or IE 11. Works great on Firefox and Chrome. Does anyone know h...

6. Click Import and select HTML File Set . 7. In the Import HTML Files Wizard , on the Import HTML Files page, select Import into this project . Hi, barbs, I'm currently following your steps to reproduce, and I'll follow up again once I've finished, but I had a quick question (I don't think you've ...

Re: Clicking one TOC entry expands another book
Open the skin file, and go to the General tag. IN the "TOC Options" section, uncheck "Automatically Synchronize TOC" When that setting is checked, and a topic is opened, Flare looks for that topic in the TOC. However, it gets confused when the same topic is in the TOC in multipl...

Re: How can I exclude individual resources
I'm not usually that fast! :) I'm just hitting the forums pretty hard as I try and figure out some more issues this week and noticed that one of my questions I'd pretty much given up on had been commented on. No, we don't currently have a "Master" project for styles, conditional tag sets, ...

Re: Global project linking - auto reimport
Did you ever find a solution to this problem. I am playing around with import as we are considering implementing it soon, and I seem to be having the same problem. I've previously imported files using the Import -> HTML File Set option, and in that case the auto-reimport works fine. I'm now working ...

Re: How can I exclude individual resources
Alright, continuation of our story for dealing with importing files.... As I noted, we do not check back in (submit) the Flare import file (*.flimphtml) into our revision control software after we have built our target(s). After the build is complete, we revert the file. We only check it in after th...

Sorry, but I'm kind of glad I'm not the only person that has run into this problem. I'll try and explain what is working for us. I actually just wrote down this process so I can get it documented here at the office. 1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to your project folder 2. In the Content folder, cr...

How can I exclude individual resources
I have two Flare projects. I am importing 7 source files from ProjectA into ProjectB. I have enabled "Import resources" as these files contain about 10 or so snippets that about 10 images that must also be imported. I have also enabled "Auto re-import" as both of these are active...

Re: How can I convert all snippets in a project to text?
Thanks Nita. I appreciate the reply. I was pretty much to the point where I assumed there was no easy way to do this. It would be an interesting exercise to write some scripts to do it outside of Flare, but I'm up against the deadline so that will have to wait for another time. We don't usually impo...

How can I convert all snippets in a project to text?
I'm looking for a way to quickly convert all the snippets in my project to text, without having to go into each individual file and convert them manually. Is there a way to do this. I have about 15-20 files that each have anywhere from 1-10 snippets in them. I'm not excited about having to go into e...
