Is there a way in Flare to quickly identify those topics that are not in the TOC? In RoboHelp, you can re-sort the list of topics under the "TOC" heading to easily identify the topics you've missed. I haven't been able to find the equivalent in Flare yet.
Thanks.

Border around hyperlinked images
I just noticed that Flare puts a border around all images that have hyperlinks--how can I avoid this? For example, I have an icon that when clicked, displays an external topic. But Flare insists on encircling my icon with a rather ugly blue (or purple) border in the compiled result. I've tried using...

Re: Region capture doesn't work
Yes, I eventually rebooted the PC and Capture worked normally again. But now the problem has returned, and rebooting doesn't work. Very annoying. I'll try filing a bug report.

Region capture doesn't work
For some reason, the Region Capture feature in my Capture 3 is no longer working. When I press the Ctrl-Shift-R hotkey, I see the crosshair and the magnifier, but I cannot select the area to capture. Instead, the mouse pointer continues to behave normally and I can click elements on my desktop, all ...

WebHelp Quick Search: how to find partial match?
The Quick Search in WebHelp appears to match only whole words. Is it possible to make partial matches? For example, searching for "report" on a topic does not locate "reports". The standard wildcard characters are not recognized. I notice that using the browser's built-in Find fe...

Text colour for Glossary in WebHelp output
This has been driving me crazy...in the Skin editor, I can use the Styles > Frame setting to set the font and colour for the Index and TOC tabs in the WebHelp. But there appears to be no corresponding setting to change the Glossary text--it comes out in Arial 12pt Blue in the WebHelp--not what I wan...

WebHelp with JavaScript disabled?
Is it possible for Flare to create a type of "web help" that will work on browsers with JavaScript disabled? I realize that WebHelp itself will not work if JavaScript is not enabled. Or is the only alternative to use another help format (CHM, Dotnet Help, etc.)? This was just a suggestion ...

Re: Project Analysis all wrong!
No, the broken links do not come up during compilation. This is probably because there are no actual broken links in those topics. But something keeps tripping up the analysis for whatever reason.Andrew wrote:Do the broken links also come up when you compile?

Re: Page break in a table?
If you have drop-down tags then I'm guessing you have paragraph tags inside the table rows. Did you set orphan/widow values for the print version of those paragraph styles? The paragraph style that I use within the cells--and within the drop-down tags--show "(default)" for all the "B...

Re: Page break in a table?
I have also encountered the same problem: I have some long tables and they break very oddly in Flare, even though I haven't made any changes to the TR and TD styles. This is what I've noticed: - Tables in legacy topics originally created by RoboHelp actually behave as expected: the table rows break ...

Re: Searching the TOC?
I just discovered that search does work when you switch to Grid View. So the workaround is to go to Grid View first, search, then switch back to Tree View to see the position of the item in the TOC. It's a bit clumsy but at least it works. I just filed an enhancement request to see if they can get i...

Is there a way to search a TOC in Flare? I tried doing a Find and Replace with the Primary TOC open, and it doesn't work.

Re: Need Page Layout help
I'm generating to Word and I am not using a master page. But this is interesting...I changed the output type to PDF and now it works! The headers are outdented as I had intended. So it would appear the problem lies in Word 2007. Also interesting is how Flare generated a slew of errors when generatin...

Re: Need Page Layout help
Thanks for the tips, Lisa. I actually spent a couple of days reading all the helps topics on Page Layouts and the "Printed Output Guide". I wanted a good grip on this feature before I tried anything. As my main project is huge (400+ pages), I created a second testing TOC that included two ...

Need Page Layout help
I'm just starting to play around with the new Page Layout feature and something is really puzzling me. The layout I'm trying to achieve is this: - 8.5 x 11 page - margins: 1 inch all around, except 1.25 from top - body frame starts 1.5 inch from the left margin (i.e., body text is 2.5" from lef...

Setting Home page in WebHelp?
When editing a skin in Flare, the "WebHelp Toolbar" category allows you to specify which buttons will appear. One of the button is "Home". By default, this opens up the startup topic that I've designated. However, the help for this button says that the Home button can open a &quo...

Re: Project Analysis all wrong!
After deleting the Analyzer folder and rescanning, the "topics not in the TOC" report is mostly accurate, but it still misidentifies topics that are in the TOC. The other reports--broken links and topics not in the index, are still way off.

Project Analysis all wrong!
To me, one of the more exciting new features in Flare 4 is the Project Analyzer. It was sorely needed. But when I run it, the results are all wrong! It lists topics that it claims are not in the TOC, yet I've verified that they are indeed in the target TOC. It also fingers topics with broken links, ...

When I run the WebHelp generated by Flare 3.1 in Firefox 3, the "Search" tab does not load. It just hangs on "Loading..." but the topic is displayed, hyperlinks work, and I can switch to the Index or TOC tabs with no problems. I believe Firefox 3 was an issue with Flare when it f...

Disabling annoying indicators while typing

How to apply shading to a table cell?
This may be a simple question, but I can't seem to get it to work in Flare: how do I apply background shading to a table cell? When we migrated to Flare, we imported our old RoboHelp projects. Our tables are simple: plain body cells, with the table heading row having a 50% grey pattern. The RH table...
