Specifying a style that never has line breaks
We use a lot of code in our documentation. The code includes Unicode symbols and punctuation, for example: "1 2 3+.×10 12 14" I do not want this to break accross lines as the meaning is lost. I know how to tell Flare to not break where there's a space, but I want to say that if something l...

HTML5 searches not working on unconventional syntax
I am documenting a computer language (APL) and the syntax includes system commands. Each of these is preceeded by a right parenthesis, for example, )SAVE or )LOAD. The search functionality in the generated HTML5 output is not happy when one of these terms is entered, and responds with "Ensure t...

Re: Can "see" index entries be conditional?
Thanks Psider but they don't relate to a specific topic and I don't want there to be clickable links, just standard "see" links. In my example I have numerous sub-topics under "Setting function" and I just want the "Set function" entry to refer people to the Setting fun...

Can "see" index entries be conditional?
I know that index entries can be made conditional when they relate to a specific topic, but what about index entries that are "see" links? Aim: I want the following index entries: [*]In PDF: Set function.....see Setting function [*]In HTML5: Set function (SALT).....see Setting function (SA...

Flare 2017 on Windows 10: .svg images not displaying in PDFs
I have an issue – images that are .svg files are displaying in the HTML5 output but not in the PDF output; they also fail to display in the preview pane. This used to all work fine. I have recently upgraded from a Windows 7 machine with Flare 12.0 to a Windows 10 machine with Flare2017. I have no id...

Re: For SVG graphics, what are the system dependencies?
This still appears to be an issue but I'm floundering a bit with exactly what version of Java I should be installing with Flare 2017 r3. Can anyone let me know (or, even better, send me a link) please? I've just moved to a new machine and none of the SVG files are coming out in the PDFs I generate f...

Table caption widths restricted to table width
I have tables configured to resize to the size of their contents until the page width is reached, at which point text wrapping kicks in. Each table has a caption. The code is as follows: <table style="border-collapse: collapse;margin-left: 0;margin-right: auto;mc-caption-repeat: true;width: aut...

Re: .svg files in Flare 12
I tried both - still not got this working. I've had to bodge a solution whereby the HTML and PDF use different images, which is not ideal and not future-proofjjw wrote:Are you saving the files as Inkscape SVG or as plain SVG? (I ask because I'd like to be able to use Inkscape SVGs myself).

.svg files in Flare 12
Hope I've picked the correct category for this, could have gone in several of them! Until now I have always included images as PNG file, and have a snippet set up that centres them in the generated PDF and left-aligns them in the generated HTML5. This works without any problems. I have just tried to...

HTML5 Tripane skin: internal/external radius on panels
I've been playing with a skin for HTML5 tripane layout and have almost achieved what I need to. However, I have a couple of tweaks that I can't work out how to make. Re: Embedding Unicode font in pdf and html5
UPDATE: Madcap support have confirmed that "Flare only supports UTF-8. Unicode is handled by Windows as UTF-16, therefore Flare does not support it." I have asked whether there are any plans to introduce support for Unicode and will post here when I get a response. I'm sure I can't be the ...

Re: Embedding Unicode font in pdf and html5
Thanks Jason. I was coming to that conclusion myself but it's really not the result I wanted! I've contacted support to see if there's any way round it, as without the ability to have mixed-font headings our documentation becomes much less easy for users to navigate. I'll let you know what the respo...

Embedding Unicode font in pdf and html5
I use a unicode font in my documentation, and have loaded it into Flare so that the font displays fine in topics (it displays in HTML5 and PDF exactly as it should). HTML5 output: expand/collapse all for TOC/Index
I've read quite a few posts on this but I haven't found one that told me what I need to know...is it possible, using Flare 11, to generate HTML5 output that has a button for expand/collapse all on the TOC and Index? Got my fingers crossed for a "yes", in which case my follow-up question is...

ePub format failing to embed font
I document a programming language that requires a particular unicode font. I can include the font in Flare, use it in topics and successfully generate pdfs that have the font in. However, I'm now trying to generate an ePub file (haven't even looked at MOBI yet!) and I'm not having any luck. Although...
