Re: Cross-reference search terms in SideNav help
I believe index entries will still affect search results, even if there isn't an index in the output. They certainly do for top-nav, and side nav is just a re-branded top-nav. It uses the same underlying technology. So put your alternate terms in as index entries in the topic, and it should give you...

Re: Cells filled with P tags in imported Word table
We specifically tell Flare to create paragraph tags in our tables when the table is created. https://content.screencast.com/users/paul.pehrson/folders/Shared/media/781a31d2-ae97-4224-8f6b-247c808d394c/05.16.2019-18.03.png We want this because we want table cells with multiple paragraphs or images to...

Re: Non TOC topics appear in Search
The problem is when you aren't using conditions on your topics. For example, we have one product, and we have topics that might appear in any of 12 PDF guides. They all build into one online help system. The individual PDF TOCs are all part of the master online TOC. We don't want to create condition...

In the Content Explorer, right-click on a topic, and select Properties. You see this dialog box: https://content.screencast.com/users/paul.pehrson/folders/Shared/media/9d98fa7c-8d28-47d7-b285-5de7ad8b9e46/05.16.2019-17.47.png Enter the title you want to use in the Topic Title box. Let me preface this by saying I tried for over two hours trying to make this work, and I couldn't find a way. However, I'll tell you my findings, and maybe somebody smarter that I can take that to the next level and give you the answer you need. First, I'll speak to cross references, because that is...

Re: Best way to display data from one source in multiple top
Chris, Sounds like really cool code. Kathryn, No, Flare doesn't do this natively, as you've discovered. You'd need something like Chris's code to make this work. Tables and table sorting/filtering is where my mind went. I also use the table sorter jquery. I haven't seen the table filter jquery. That...

Re: Highlight search results in Top Nav and Side Nav Skins
I wrote a response to this post, and the forum software ate it for lunch. So here is another attempt. There are several search results styles that apply to HTML5, TopNav, and SideNav targets. They are done in the style sheet, not in the skin editor. First, if you want to change how the search terms ...

That's weird. Glad you got it working. And yes, the build manager's "solution" is not an acceptable one from an automation perspective, so it is funny that it would come from a build manager.

Re: NEW User - Turn off side nav for Home page topic
Well, the property that controls that space is called <div class="sidenav-wrapper">. So what I would try (I don't have a way to test this at the moment, so this is a guess) is going into the master page of the home page and adding the following to the <head> section: <style> div.sidenav-wr...

Re: Non TOC topics appear in Search
Rona,
You would end up with broken links in your output. Wouldn't that confuse your users? Or if it was converted to text like you suggest, the surrounding text makes it sound like it should be a link, but it's not a link, which would also be confusing for your users.

Re: micro content very disappointing
Seems like stemming should be an option in the target editor. In context of my work environment, I think stemming on one word searches would be helpful to my users, but I can see how it is not in yours. They did say at MadWorld that this is just the beginning with micro content, and we can expect en...

Re: PDF linked in Word doc not importing on build machine
Where in the process is the PDF built? In the last step? Does the PDF come from the Word files you imported? Or is the PDF a separate document that is just included because you need to link to it? Obviously, Flare can't find the PDF file in that location on the build machine. When you get to Remote ...

We have the reference to our GA code (in a separate JS file) at the end of our master page, right before the </body> tag. It works for us. But I don't have the async part in my code. This is what our GA code looks like: // Google Analytics-provided code (function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObj...

Re: Continue a list after a break
Make sure the table is part of the child <ol>. If you look at your code, you see that you have two separate ordered lists. However, this is a case where you really have one ordered list where you need a table in the middle of it. I think you need a paragraph in your second <li> in the child list. Th...

Re: How can I customize an <xref> output?
If you always want to have the text "Blahdey Blah" and never "Blahdey Blah Performance Test" you could use the title attribute. I think that is what MadCap will use for the cross reference unless you specifically point to the H1, or if no title attribute is present.

Re: Why is Flare adding value attributes in outputs?
They are unnecessary in your output because you built a clean list. However, not everybody builds clean lists. Sometimes they break the list and add an image and then restart the list and continue the numbering, or break the list and throw in a table and then continue the numbering. You'd be amazed ...

Re: Styles aren't being maintained in output
Open the output in a browser window. Look at the source to see what CSS style sheets are being applied and in what order. Make sure that the CSS style sheet you are using shows up in the <head> tag. It looks like it is using the default browser style, as if it can't find a CSS file or if the CSS fil...

Re: Mini TOC sort at the start of each topic
It's all CSS, so you should be able to use your browser's inspector tool to find the specific CSS element and modify it the way you want it. I will point out that you can have multiple menu proxies. One that is default, that shows the context and another that shows a browse sequence or something sim...

If somebody else comes along later and wonders why this isn't working for them, make sure that you don't have an alias file selected. If there is an alias file selected, Flare will include all the topics in the alias file, and all the topics that they link to, and all the topics THEY link to, etc. H...
