Re: Removing auto-numbering from a single heading? [RESOLVED
I've been playing with the simplified view, advanced view and directly hacking the css as a text file in an attempt to come to grips with everything! In the course of my reading round it all I do remember seeing an option to increment the auto-numbering but not display it on the screen. In fact, I a...

Re: Removing auto-numbering from a single heading? [RESOLVED
I'm also using Flare 10. What I meant by "Properties > Auto Number" is shown in the image: Image2.jpg I also have: h1 {mc-auto-number-format: '{chapnum}';} h2 {mc-auto-number-format: 'CH: {chapnum}.{n+}';} h3 {mc-auto-number-format: 'CH: {chapnum}.{n}.{n+}';} h4 {mc-auto-number-format: 'CH...

Re: Lists: making list styles into paragraph styles - possib
Correct, my HTML is clean (obsessively so!). I was trying to save a couple of clicks or HTML adventure by having ol and ul as paragraph options but what I want can be achieved using the list/indent/outdent buttons. I think it's my FrameMaker roots coming through in that I want a list style, list ind...

Re: Lists: making list styles into paragraph styles - possib
Thanks Dave. Yes, I have set up various levels of styles in which I can have three "nests" of items in any combination of steps (numbered) or bullets (unnumbered). It's this that's making me want ol and ul in the style selector, as using indent and outdent is insufficient to specify the ty...

Lists: making list styles into paragraph styles [RESOLVED]
I've successfully created various styles for numbered and bulleted lists with up to three levels of indentation (wonderful advice on how to do this from this forum!). However, I'm now stumbling at what I thought would be the easy part...I can only apply these styles by editing the HTML directly. I k...

Re: Styling notes - best practice question [RESOLVED]
Without the table I just couldn't get the text to align to the left of the image after the bottom of the image (it was wrapping round the image). I know that having a table isn't best practice but unless anyone has any bright ideas I'm going to have to go with it, at least temporarily until I have m...

Re: Styling notes - best practice question [RESOLVED]
Hurrah, managed to get it working. I went with defining it as a snippet and then converting the snippet to text each time I insert it. It's not pretty HTML (I've yet to stylesheet it properly, but if anyone is having similr issues here's how I got it work: First I defined a div.note class that set t...

Images with automatic caption creation
Oh dear, rather swamping the forums as I try to construct my first css for Flare... This question is about images. I would like to define a style that forces the user to add a caption when an image is added, that is, if I insert an image it automatically adds a figcaption beneath it. I have styled t...

Styling notes - best practice question [RESOLVED]
I understand from a webinar given by Mike Hamilton that best practice is to put warning icons next to messages rather than the way I’ve always done it of having a table with the icon in the left cell and the text in the right. I’d like to make sure I use this new approach but I’m not quite sur...

Re: Removing auto-numbering from a single heading - possible
I have now found a solution for this...I defined a class of h1 called h1.nonumber and in Properties > Auto-number I set Position to None. Sorted!

Best Practice for changing styles between media [RESOLVED]
Some of my topics start with heading level 1 - these are the "Chapter" headings in my pdf output. In my HTML5 output I want these to appear exactly the same as my heading level 2 style. I can achieve this is several ways, but I'm wondering what best practice says I should do. 1. I can appl...

Re: HTML5: text in browser tab of output
Thankyou Lydia, I managed to get the logo/favicon sorted. However, I must be doing something incorrectly as I'm not getting the caption to work as required. In the General tab of the Skin I have set the Caption to be as I want it. However, when viewing the generated help it uses this caption as a pr...

HTML5: text in browser tab of output [RESOLVED]
Currently the text in the tab on my browser changes to reflect the page that is being viewed. I would like it always show the same string (and a logo if possible!). How should I go about this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Variables in page layout headers [RESOLVED]
Please bear with me if this is an easy one - I'm still feeling my way here! I am setting up the page layout for print output. I need to generate multiple pdfs from a single project, each with different titles. Is it possible for a variable in the header of the page layout to pick up the title of eac...

Removing auto-numbering from a single heading? [RESOLVED]
I'm just getting started with Flare and have a question concerning auto-numbering. I've managed to set it up in the css so that all my chapters and sections are numbered - so far, so good. However, I have one chapter that I don't want to be numbered. Is there a way of specifying that a single headin...
