Re: Images - Web to Print

You can do this in two ways:
  • Use mediums in your stylesheet: switch to the Print medium and configure your image tag for a specific size.
  • Use Capture to manage the images: increase the DPI in the Print medium settings (you can batch that in a profile).

Re: Capture 7 bug?

Hi Dan I don't think it is because of the Medium Source field being empty. From the Capture manuals: Medium Source: This field displays the location of the stylesheet associated with the custom medium selected in the Medium field. I think it is because those missing fields are considered by Capture ...

Re: Capture Resources

New! I've added the first set of Arrows . Updated I changed the font used in the Numbers files to Arial for better compatibility. News I can only upload 5 attachments, so I took the previews off (I will add new previews to these posts). I tried to upload a bundle zip of all three sets, but it just ...

Re: Missing Snippets in Word 2010

Word doesn't support DIV, which is what you get when you group, so that won't help your Word output. To troubleshoot, I'd turn off the float and make sure that the output formats properly (image after the heading). When that is working correctly, apply the float. EDIT - tea is good, probably not the...

Re: Capture Resources

Hi Wil - one thought: it might be font related. Before adding a callout to your palette, could you try changing the font in the callout to the font that you want to use in your doc. The callouts are configured with Open Sans, which is freely available, but I appreciate that you might want to use ano...

Re: crop doesn't auto-scroll?

Ah, good counterpoint! Capture's uncrop works even after the undo queue has been cleared, so you can crop a capture, save it, close it, go away, come back years later, open it again... and uncrop (because the whole image is still "stored" in the props file). But you're right, you can't cro...

Re: Capture Resources

Hi Wil. Well, I couldn't replicate your problem... I tested both the numbered callout image sets in Flare 10 and 11, and didn't get an error. I'm afraid I couldn't say what is happening on your system. I wonder if anyone else gets this error? One thing I noticed was that the callouts were already un...

Re: crop doesn't auto-scroll?

Yep, Snagit scrolls with the crop tool. It does a lot of things well. But hey, Snagit can't "uncrop" a cropped image like Capture can 8)

Re: crop doesn't auto-scroll?

Unfortunately, cropping in Capture is a one-shot thing; there is no option for a crop box with anchor points, or the ability to edit a crop region before committing. So, that's a feature request: https://www.madcapsoftware.com/feedback/featurerequest.aspx :) As much as I like Capture, it lacks preci...

Re: crop doesn't auto-scroll?

Hi lise. Yes, I think you have found a bug. I don't know if it is on MadCap's known bugs list, so a bug report is the way to go: https://www.madcapsoftware.com/feedback/bugs.aspx As a workaround, you can zoom out before doing your crop (see the zoom tools on the lower toolbar, or CTRL+minus), but I ...

Re: Release Notes comments/questions

Well, the summary says that this list contains bug reports and feature requests, and that's what it does. Although, I expect this list is compiled automatically from a ticket system, and some of the entries are not complete. I really just use this list to search for bug tracking numbers to see if my...

Re: Capturing a open drop down menu

Capture can do it, but it is kind of accidental. Here is the hack: 1. Make sure that the Magnifier is enabled on the Capture tab of the Options. 2. Enable Time Delay on the File ribbon. 3. Start the application that you want to capture and click the menu to open it. 4. With the menu open, hit the ho...

Capture Resources

This is kind of an experiment. I've put together a few simple callouts for use in Capture. If you're an old hand at Capture, you've probably got your callout templates sorted, but I hope this resource might help new Capture users. The callouts are set out in a normal Capture image (PNG), so you need...

Re: Incoming bozo alert: condition tags.

Peter, you've now seen how useful palettes are. They are a core function of using Capture. I find the palette function easier to use than Snagit's libraries. The difference is that Snagit has a much better range of predefined objects, whereas in Capture, you have to build your libraries yourself. Ho...

Re: Incoming bozo alert: condition tags.

Nice one, Peter. I think basic conditions are simple to use, but they are still a powerful tool. I have used them to create a user guide and an administrator guide, all single-source, same TOC, but different topics in each. That's a simple scenario, but conditions also have an "advanced" m...

Re: Possible to apply a class to a class?

Fiona - in this case you need to define a span class. A span class behaves like a character style, as other editing apps call it. Define the class with the properties that you want, e.g. italic, then when you select some text, e.g. inside a paragraph, your span classes appear in the style window (or...

Thanks Peter! I am working on an updated avatar. Watch that space. I heard about that nuclear chap. Can't knock his ambition. Capture is a good tool, but so is Snagit. I use Snagit in my day-to-day stuff (non-Flare) because it is quick and easy and the sharing options are excellent. Snagit's annotat...
