Paragraph styles within FM table cells getting lost?
Frame 7, Flare 4.1, WebHelp output I just noticed that my paragraph styles within a table cell don't seem to be getting picked up in the conversion to Flare. For example, I have a Note style defined in Frame for notes within a table cell. The style doesn't even show up in the Import Editor. Same wit...

Re: non-breaking hyphen getting lost?
The non-breaking hyphen is in Frame, but gets lost in the conversion to Flare. I'm not yet ready to abandon Frame, so I can't really use snippets (already checked into that since variables lose their formatting on conversion to Flare).
Thx.

TOC behavior
(I have no idea how to search for this in the help/forums - my ideas have turned up nothing.)
Is there a control to prevent the TOC from scrolling right when the user selects a long topic? I'd rather have the TOC always remain flush left unless they choose to scroll...
Thanks.

non-breaking hyphen getting lost?
Frame 7, Flare 4.1, WebHelp output I use a lot of non-breaking hyphens in my content (because the product name includes a hyphen ("on-Q")). I use "Esc hyphen h". It appears that Flare drops these hyphens completely, so I end up with "onQ". Anyone else experienced this? ...

One topic has two "name=" links (which I assume are coming from xref markers in Frame?)
No <title>, but it does have the <h3>. Other topics don't seem to have a <title>, yet show up in the search....

missing topic titles in search results
Import from Frame 7, Flare 4.1x, WebHelp output. When I use Search, some topic titles do not display in the results (but I can still click on them and go to the topic). See screenshot. Has anyone seen this before? I checked the topics and can't see anything obvious (in the xref markers, conditions, ...

Skipping malformed index marker
Frame 7, Flare 4.1, WebHelp output In my Frame source, I have index entries for operators (< and <=). In Frame, they are escaped with "\" (i.e. \< and \<=). When Flare produces WebHelp from the imported Frame, I get this error: Skipping malformed index marker Should I be using a different ...

Hey! I finally got a chance to test it and...your suggestion worked great - I think it will also significantly reduce subsequence import times. Thanks so much!

Re: Import from Frame - images look like cr*p
Thanks for the info. I submitted a bug and referenced my Case #. I think I might keep the PPT in the FM, conditionalized as PrintOnly and then Save As JPG for online. Then I can easily update the images and reimport the JPG into Frame. The only problem is that it's a huge undertaking to convert all ...

Re: Import from Frame - images look like cr*p
Yes. But the problem is in the jpg source created by Flare. If I look at the jpgs in the output directly, they look all blurry and crappy.

Re: Import from Frame - images look like cr*p
So, I did a little test - I saved a PDF (with a graphic and callouts) from Acrobat 7 as a JPG and it looks great. What up with that?

Re: Import from Frame - images look like cr*p
The graphics (mainly screenshots) are .jpg pasted into .ppt. I import them into Frame using Import Object. It works so well because you can then edit the referenced object (the ppt) by right-clicking the object - and PPT is easy for adding callouts, etc. So how do you import the gif/jpg/png into Fra...

Import from Frame - images look like cr*p
Frame7, Flare 4, Distiller/Acrobat 7. One issue remains in my conversion from Frame to Flare to WebHelp... I have many many images in my Frame source. They are all created in Powerpoint (I know, I know) and imported by reference. I've set up Distiller as specified. In the WebHelp output, the images ...

Re: Frame import - variables
I figured out a hack (er, workaround): Remove the auto-generated variable set. Project > Add Variable Set Select the set with correct variables and give it the name of the removed auto-generated set. There's probably a better way, but this seems to work for me. I guess I'll see if it "sticks&qu...

Frame import - variables
Importing from Frame. I have a bunch of variables with a hyphen (our product name includes a hyphen and italics, so I use a Frame variable). When I import to Flare, the hyphens disappear (not to mention the formatting of the variables). Is this a known issue? Is there any way to prevent it? I've fix...

Frame import - table styles

I have manually gone in and changed the table css files, but then each re-import blows those c...

Frame Import, conditional text appears in TOC
I'm importing from Frame. I have text tagged as conditional (PrintOnly) which does NOT show up in my Frame TOC. When I import to Flare, these topics DO show up. When I build, I get errors (I think) regarding these non-topics and they show up in the TOC, but not in the output. Is there a way to get F...

Re: Frame to Flare: TOC creation?
Thanks Greg.
The little link icon is on the tabs. I have "Link Generated Files To Source Files" checked. Do I not have to reimport? Or is there another way to reimport?
The FM source is clean - I scrubbed the overrides before starting.

Delete all files (except the default topic) from the Content>...import folder (when you shift Frame files around or re-map often stale files get left behind) Do you mean the HTML files that were imported? Re: Frame to Flare: TOC creation?
I forgot to mention - other FM styles mapped to the same Flare style show up just fine in the TOC. Also forgot to mention that my output target is WebHelp (not print).
I checked the stylesheet and the value for mc-heading-level is "1".

Re: Frame to Flare: TOC creation?
I have a Frame para style "Caption_tocHTML" that I want to split to a new topic AND show up in the TOC. My initial import did not split these to new topics, but subsequent re-imports have. So now I have topics with no link to the TOC. I have mapped the Frame para style to an H1 Flare style...

Mapping FM "See also" lists to Flare "conceptLink"
Importing FM 7 source to Flare. I have "See also" lists at the ends of topics (tagged with See_Also_Item paragraph tag in Frame). When I import to Flare, I've mapped them to bullet lists/cross-references. I would like to map them to conceptLinks (to get the cool drop-down See Also list), b...
