In that case, I'd recommend setting up a feature request. If other people need/want the same thing, there's a small chance Flare could add that. It seems rather unlikely, though, honestly.
Good luck!

Re: HTML5 TOC "Alt text"
I'm not 100% sure about webhelp format, but I've never seen this in my HTML5 output. I'm sure it's possible to add, if you really really wanted to. The "Title=" attribute of the "a" tags are where that hovertext comes from. You could use JavaScript/JQuery to cycle through and add...

Re: Best way to change styles en masse?
Yes, 50-60$ USD plus the cost of dealing with your company's IT requisitions, reimbursement and/or software installation process! So far I've been coping with Notepad++. Instead of using FAR's save feature, which seems awesome, I'm just storing each regex that I use on my department's wiki page alon...

Re: Best way to change styles en masse?
I may be wrong, but I think FAR is a paid tool. I've done the same thing with Notepad++'s "Find in Files" feature for free. However, you have to have a bit more regular expression "kung fu" because it doesn't have the same helpful user interface as FAR to make things easier. I wo...

Re: Setting Conditional flags in Properties does not save al
Yes, I've had that issue with folders and image files. I've never noticed with anything else, but that could be because of how I've set things up. I usually flag folders with condition tags, then move the files to the various folders. You could possibly try that. Of course, that method gets complica...

Re: Setting Conditional flags in Properties does not save al
I believe that the PROPS file (used to control condition tags) is probably marked as read-only for some files. I'm not sure why this happens sometimes (possibly source control), but this results in changing condition tags failing silently. In Windows Explorer, make sure that hidden files are display...

Re: Creating Docs to Print on the Fly from Online Help
Wow, that's quite a challenge. I'll give a shot in broad strokes. Maybe you could use three different PDF targets to build 3 different PDFs (QR, Help, and Detail). Then, using some vague Javascript magic, split the generated PDFs so that the content for each topic ends up in its own PDF file, which ...

Re: Problems accessing new style
I've noticed that Flare can be rather buggy when creating a style inside a topic using the Create Style Class button located in Flare's Home ribbon. It seems to create the style fine in the CSS stylesheet, but it does not appear in Flare's built-in Stylesheet user interface. I should probably report...

Re: PageBreak to empty page
This is a stupid question, but there aren't any blank paragraph tags at the end of your topics? That can happen. Also, you might want to check that Flare isn't adding blank pages deliberately so that new chapters start on the right page. It's probably not either of these things, but just to rule out...

Apparently this was accepted as a bug, #103056. At the very least, the fields should not appear at all if they are not intended to be used, but I really hope the actual functionality is added.

Re: Can I single-source a table?
Yes, this is just an eccentricity of the Flare UI I think. Copying and pasting a table into a snippet works fine, so just create a new empty snippet using the Content Explorer window, then paste in the table you want to single-source.

Wow, thanks Nita, I didn't know about batch jobs. That definitely reduces my annoyance levels significantly. At least now I know that if I finally do get the solution that I want implemented, I don't have to reprocess every stupid image individually. For now, I'll settle for the Print and Web images...

Re: Capture 7 bug?
Looking at it further, yes, it looks like you're right atomdocs. Image size settings can only be set up for individual images. That's absolutely infuriatingly disappointing. (I'm also not sure why my Medium source is not being picked up, but it does look like that's a separate issue). Further lookin...

Capture 7 bug?
So, I'm getting odd behavior with Capture 7. This is especially unfortunate because it's with the exact thing that I want to use the most. I'm a big fan of using Profiles to create images with different Print DPIs to control image size in my PDF and Word outputs. I'd love to do roughly the same thin...

Thanks. I just got done with MadCap Support and they were able to help me. I forgot that they email the upgrades to a person in my company's IT department first, and she was on vacation so she didn't forward it along.
The torn page effect is a rather dramatic effect, yes. Thanks for the assist!

Re: Happy happy joy joy - MadCap Capture 7 is here!
Yes, I am eagerly looking forward to testing it out as well! I'm also disappointed about the lack of OTF fonts, though. I'm hoping that in general it will allow me to properly single-source images while actually maintaining good image quality. SCD, maybe I'm being the dumb, but how did you manage to...

Re: Crop picture for PDF output
Well, you could set up classes of images, and assign a different class to each image depending on how much padding you wanted. For instance: @medium print { /* set padding to 0 for print output images */ img.MinPad, img.VSmallPad, img.SmallPad, img.Pad, img.LargePad, img.VLargePad, img.HugePad, img....

Re: Crop picture for PDF output
Additionally, if you use CSS to add the whitespace, you can use CSS mediums so that a different amount of whitespace appears when the image is in a PDF than when the same image is used in an online output.

Re: Using Macros to assign keyboard shortcuts to styles
Yes, thanks for sharing Doc Guy! I should have shared my own investigations on this subject. I didn't know about the keyboard shortcut method. What I did was I used the main Style drop-down menu on the Home tab of the ribbon to choose the style. Using a button in the ribbon is also recorded properly...

Re: Can't find location of error
Thanks, great tips Doc Guy. The error was happening when I built my HTML5 output. Strangely, it just suddenly stopped appearing as suddenly as it appeared, so problem solved? This is the sort of thing that makes me nervous and makes me glad that I have source control. Next time, I'll know to investi...

Can't find location of error
So, I've come across an error of "Found non-table cell inside table row." My issue is that I didn't notice when this first cropped up somehow, and now I have no idea which table in my project (or even which topic!) is causing this error. If I find the table, I'm sure I can resolve it. I've...

Re: Watermark in PDF output
MasterPages are useful for word output and also for HTML5 output. But in general, yes, you could accomplish the same thing using a pagelayout, with the possible issues that Choccie points out. Personally, I'd do something similar to what Choccie was describing, but use a Div with a "New" c...

Re: Online topics flow together? Impossible?
To echo what Choccie says, I think that part of the issue is that you made your topics too granular. I did the same thing in some cases... it feels very "single-sourcy" to do during the conversion to Flare. Unfortunately, when using Web content, sometimes topics can ideed be too granular d...

I opted to keep Mark of the Web on, and I do have working PDF downloads in my HTML5 (tripane) output. Yes, I made a new folder in my project's main Content > Resources folder called "PDF Downloads" and added all of the files that I wanted to include in there. You could make a folder called...

Re: What are the steps to creating a PDF output?
Hi lramos, For now, I'd say pick either PDF or WebHelp and work on getting that set up first. Flare is a powerful tool and there's a lot to learn. It sounds like you're just starting out, so there's no way anyone on the forum can can answer all the questions you'll have. If the main user guide is a ...
