Re: Capture button is off the screen--how do I access it?
I have also basically had to stop using Capture since I have a 4k resolution laptop, where by default everything is scaled to 200% so it is big enough to see. But my attached monitor is only 100%, which is pretty confusing to Capture. But Snagit does fine. (And I have been a *big* proponent of Captu...

Re: Reset autonumbering in TOC
Okay, thinking a little outside the box, then: You could put this style in an @media section in your style sheet. In the targets where you want this numbering to reset, then you choose that media section in the target. In other targets, this numbering style would be ignored. I dunno. Just trying to ...

Re: Reset autonumbering in TOC
What is different is that the Lab auto-number is set globally (so it is unaffected by section and chapter breaks), while the Exercise auto-number is set at the section level. So when you start a new section in your TOC (this is controlled in the TOC element by either manually setting section breaks,...

Re: Table margin?
I think the most helpful thing you could do is to use the web browser's CSS inspector to show you where the extra space is coming from. Right-click in the blank space under the table, and choose the Inspect (or similar) option. Take this image for example: https://content.screencast.com/users/paul.p...

That is really weird behavior, both you and your colleague. This may not be helpful to you, but to others who read this post later. (I say that because from your screen shot, I don't think my suggestion will apply.) You have to be careful what you select in order to annotate it. From a code perspect...

Re: Reset autonumbering in TOC
Let me preface this by saying I'm not an autonumber expert, but I think there is a solution to your problem. Is it just in the TOC where you need to reset the autonumbering? Or is it on the topics themselves too? How do you set autonumbering currently? In the TOC, or through a style? If it is with a...

Re: Adobe Framemaker required to build output
Isleofgough - You're absolutely right. There are a bunch of targets listed on that page that you can no longer produce from Flare (.NET Help, for example). I have sent an email to a contact at MadCap pointing out those errors on the web page, and suggesting that they update the list.

Re: Changing the default "tab" size
We have the following style in our style sheet for indenting: div.indent { margin-left: 25px; } The beauty of this system is that margin-left is cumulative, which means you can nest multiple divs and get multi-level indenting from a single style. So you can do this: <div class="indent"> <p...

Re: Bug? Anchor tags throw mclog error: missing linked sourc
It is by design. If you have a broken link, you may want to know about it. However, you can turn this off at the user-level (in MadCap Flare preferences), or at the target level: https://content.screencast.com/users/paul.pehrson/folders/Snagit/media/348fb12e-9f6c-4445-9919-0dc23e5fdf91/05.31.2019-16...

Re: Two-column layout in pdf - margin before first index ite
When you look at the temporary files in the output folder, you can see some interim files that Flare generates before it makes the PDF. Sometimes these are helpful in troubleshooting what is happening. When I looked at my index file in that temporary folder, I found that it just showed the index pro...

TinyURL, for example, promises: By entering in a URL in the text field below, we will create a tiny URL that will not break in email postings and never expires . TinyURL has been around since 2002, so they are a pretty reliable service. But I understand your concern about using a third-party tool fo...

Oh. Thanks for the clarification. No that won't affect word count. It only prevents others from editing portions of your topic if you send it out for review in MadCap Contributor. I don't believe it would be excluded from translation, because it is a content review feature, not intended to have any ...

Re: Aligning Search bar in Tripane skin
If I had to guess, I'd say the reference you see in the Flare Styles guide is for a different output. You are using the tri-pane output, which does not have an alignment option. However, you can still move this with CSS. It just isn't very easy. You can't do it in your main style sheet in the projec...

Re: Styles for toolbar buttons
I think your next best bet is to do a jquery script on load. The following jquery targets the "next" button that is a descendant of a div with an ID of bottomnav: $("#bottomnav .next-topic-button").html('Next Topic'); So my code is like this: <div id="bottomnav"> <div c...

Re: Span tags in menu proxies
I'll add one more thing that I don't think was covered above. (Pardon if I'm wrong.) While the Top/Side nav skin does not allow you to create a class of TOC entry, you can use the TriPane skin to create the class. So you add the TriPane skin to your project, even though you aren't going to use it. T...

Re: <a href> links not appearing in XHTML imported to Salesf
If I understand you correctly, it is only links to PDFs that don't work when you import to Salesforce. Is that correct? If so, I have a work around that is a bit of a pain, but I think it might work, and if it does, its better than nothing. What if you use a URL shortener to create the links to your...

Louise, what is your target type? Are we talking about an online output glossary, or are we talking about PDF? Re: Centering Tables in HTML5
If I may make one small suggestion: For usability sake, I would suggest you reconsider centering your table caption/title, thus negating the need to center any of your tables. You'll get more consistent output. I, for one, would be confused why some tables are centered and some aren't. I would think...
