Re: MadCap Central User/Seat Roles
I suggest you reach out to MadCap's sales department to ask these questions. We're just peers here and can't speak to MadCap's Central licensing options.

Re: Regular importing of Markdown files
I have no experience with this myself so can't comment on how good the results might be, but Flare 2023 (not sure of earlier versions) can import Markdown directly. See https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare20 ... rkdown.htm

For the sake of comprehensiveness, these footnote attributes are discussed in Flare's help system, here: https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare20 ... bering.htm

Re: Migrating Zendesk articles to Flare
The integrations channel in the Flare Slack community doesn't have any relevance to the OP's question, given that the workflow the OP is seeking is to migrate Zendesk content TO Flare, rather than to publish Flare content TO Zendesk. The integrations channel in Slack is for advice about using Flare'...

Hi. Sorry for the delay in replying. On your behalf, I asked the question over in the Flare Slack community. I just got a reply (today's June 13): Apologies for possibly resurrecting a dead thread but our company has this exactly problem and were told that "it's coming" but weren't given a...

Re: Folder View
Sounds like you did something inadvertently to the window layout. Easily fixed. Select Window > Reload Layout and respond affirmatively to the prompt. That should revert whatever change it was that you made (*unless* the "Auto-save layout" check box is selected; if that's the case, you may...

Re: Ordered Lists
What you see in Flare's XML editor is going to depend on the stylesheet associated with your primary target. The way that ordered lists are being rendered will derive from that stylesheet. Start by examining the stylesheet. (You might find it convenience to examine it in the internal text editor, ra...

Re: Not seeing WYSIWYG in XML editor
Most likely, you've inadvertently selected the "eyeball" button on the XML Editor's toolbar, rather than select something from its list of options. I think you'll set yourself aright if you just click on the "eyeball" button again.

Re: Set condition of ONE variable
I've achieved what I *think* you're after by creating a snippet that holds only the variable, to which I have then applied a condition. That way, I can insert the snippet into topics, rather than inserting the variable into topics and having to conditionalize each of those instances.

Re: Tables in snippets not working with Bootstrap
Sounds to me like you've inserted the snippet as snippetText )meaning that it's "inline" in some other tag, such as a <p>) rather than snippetBlock. When a snippet is inserted in a tag that already has some other content in it, Flare will definitely remove the formatting within the snippet...

Re: Kerning Changed but I don't know where
I don't think it has anything to do with how your Flare project is set up. Rather, it's that the font was not installed on Windows. In any case, I'm glad you got it sorted out.

Re: Resize images with styles
I’m pretty sure that all you need to do is to add the max-width attribute, too, set to auto.
Or, you might need to use height and width, not max-height and max-width. I’m going on memory at the moment.
Code: Select all
img.YourImage
{
max-height: 16px;
max-width: auto;
}

Re: cross refs have random numbers
That is indeed weird. Have you examined any of these xrefs at the code level to see what’s going on? Maybe there are residual bookmarks from the imported source that you need to go through and remove. Just an idea. That’s where I’d start to troubleshoot.

See my reply to your similar post: viewtopic.php?t=34255
I don’t think it’s a kerning issue per se. It’s that the font is defaulting to Helvetica because the fonts you’ve specified in the stylesheet haven’t been installed on your computer.

Re: Kerning and Fonts
Hi. Apologies for a “dumb” question, but did you also install those same fonts on your computer? I’d assume that Flare’s PDF engine will be looking for fonts to be installed on the computer, not just in a folder in the project and called by the stylesheet. I could be wrong, but that’s where I’d star...

Re: Hiding topics from side-navigation
Sorry for the delay. The forums have been having problems of late and, sometimes, I've not been able to post.
It's not clear to me whether you're talking about hiding things from the Side Nav menu or from a menu that is generated with a menu proxy and that floats beside a topic's contents.

Welcome to the forums!
I haven't use it myself, but maybe Appzi? I know of a couple of Flare authors who have used it and like it. In one case, I think the free license was enough to satisfy their needs.

Re: Is there a way to display 2 projects at once?
A single instance of Flare can have only one project open. However, you can start up a second instance of Flare and open a second project. Then you can put the two Flare windows side by side. Find the annotation in the first project, copy its text, then create a annotation in the second project and ...

Re: "Update your browser" prompt - Internet Explorer
HTML (aka CHM) Help and HTML5 Help are two different formats. HTML Help first appeared with Windows 98 and was authored with the HTML Help Toolkit developed by Microsoft. Later, other help authoring tools such as RoboHelp and Flare (among likely many others) integrated Microsoft's toolkit into their...

Re: Images are blurry
What is the DPI of the image? Check to see in Adobe Illustrator if it is 96 or 300. If it's 300, try changing it to 96 and save again as PNG. Does that give you better results in the PDF? As someone had posted in your original discussion (that somehow the forum lost), the issue could be that the ima...

Re: Images are blurry
I don't believe this has anything to do with the trial version of Flare. The only thing the trial version does is to insert random characters into text. To the best of my knowledge, it doesn't do a thing with images (UNLESS one is creating the images using Capture, in which case I think some kind of...
